I'm looking at booking at a hotel for the first time ever. Most say something along the lines of needing a credit card.

I however do not have a credit card. Does a debit card work in it's place?
I read that first line as

A debit card works for booking. When you check in though you’ll need to give a pre-auth of around $200. They’ll hold this on your card until after checkout.

I assume that charge basically behaves like "The runner" at Marvel stadium. Tap your card to get in. It bills 50 bucks and makes the adjustment after it works out what you took.

I did read overseas some hotels behave differently with a credit card compared to a debit one. The difference seems to be what pre authorise.

You can ring them up and pay cash .
They seem to like getting money direct insteed of paying hotel companies.
Just cross reference the price they give you and what's on the hotel booking site.

I rang this place up and got 2 extra nights they were happy with cash.

The first place was 30$ more per night direct.
So booked it though bookings place.

Good to know the prices.

Good luck bonking 😂👍.

You can pay in advance on booking.com by using paypal.
You can but hotels still need a card for the incidentals.

Some from reading elsewhere seem to be funny on debit cards or outright refuse them even though functionality they work the same way.

I suspect it's more just me over analysing things

I think part of the logic is if they have to use it they're taking the banks money and not the customer's

I have started going down the rabbit hole of getting one just purely for travel. A sub 5k one would do the job.

Why is it you brew a cup of tea the same way and some days it tastes like your team winning the premiership crossed with your first spliff and other days it tastes like dishwater?
Unwashed tea cup, different detergent, you’re getting old and used stock powder cubes instead of sugar cubes?

What would be a acceptable quote for a very small concrete slab for a garden shed ? Just got quoted $1900. Thinking of just slapping it on the ground and screwing it to the fence.
Until the first big storm. Then the neighbours will have a new shed.

I just paid $600 for the concrete for the post holes for my verandah, but over a cubic metre I think. Really depends on size of your slab.
