My housemate wants to get Foxtel, with the sports package. Since I don't watch a lot of sport, even splitting it two ways I can't really justify the cost. He watches a ton of Premier League and stuff, so has said he will probably get it anyway even if I am not interested.

Would it be acceptable for me to sling him a few bucks and still watch it from time to time, or is that just being stingy?

I think it's fine.

If you're watching it as much as him, you split it evenly, but if it's here and there, chuck him a tenner and I'm sure he will be fine with it.

Odd time to get Foxtel though if he wants it for the Premier League though.

Foxtel have some deal for their sports package at the moment, I think that's why he's keen.

I would have liked to see a couple of non-Australia matches at this Cricket World Cup, ditto when the Rugby World Cup comes around. Aside from that, maybe some Test tours that aren't on FTA, and a couple of Super Rugby matches that are inconvenient times to go to the pub.

Maybe I'd watch more if we had it, but I don't really want to pay all that money on an ongoing basis when there's probably only one thing every few months I actually want to watch.

As long as you're both perfectly on the same page with regards to how much and what it gets you it shouldn't be a problem. Those kind of things can cause resentment down the track if you don't get that stuff absolutely straight off the bat though.

Just be a good bloke and pay half. Once your mates find out you have cable you can invite them around to watch sports they don't have at home. That is if you have mates, don't want to go assuming anything here.

Why do US sites prevent us from watching certain YouTube videos etc? If they are free for us citizens in the first place, what's the harm in allowing people in other countries to view them?

Most of the time it's a problem with whoever broadcasts the content in Aus. Usually foxtel. Can't watch Last Week Tonight videos on youtube anymore for that reason :(. Foxtel makes money by being able to exclusively broadcast content. So they get value from people not being able to access certain content easily for free.

How do some people (like me) remember song lyrics so easily, yet struggle to remember mathematical equations etc?
Lyrics to Blowing in the Wind are memorable than the theory of relativity for mine. Stephen Hawking would probably disagree with this though.

Im the same, cant even quote a movie as I am walking out of the cinema but a song from 1995 comes on that I have not heard since then? I'll drop that shit word for word.

VISA question.

I am considering heading to the UK and Ireland for a couple of months this winter to catch up with old mates.

Unfortunately I'll need to do some work to keep the $$ rolling in. What's the status on working remotely for clients back in Australia?

Obviously I'd want to fly under the radar. I wouldn't be picking up any clients in the UK. And getting caught would be a 1% chance. But if I was, I assume I'd be given the boot? Probably slapped with a travel ban of some sort as well?

Sell one of your yachts and get the full package, you tight arse!!!!

I guess. But then how about remembering languages and whatnot? I guess that's the same thing too.

Yes, and you'll find that it is easier to remember song lyrics in a foreign language than it is to learn the basics of the same language, for much the same reason.

So I've been watching Super Rugby a bit this year and I'm finding it pretty enjoyable even though up until this point I've really struggled to watch rugby (don't mind league though). My questions are:
1. Have the rebels changed their home kit? The new jersey I've seen is shithouse compared to the old one, but it might just be an alternate.
2. What happened to 'touch, pause, ENGAGE'. The new edit:'crouch, bind, set' really doesn't have the same ring to it.

Also on a side note, how the refs communicate with the players is ****ing outstanding. I wish the AFL umpires could take a leaf out of their book.
