MEB_ will probably know better as she is in HR (I think they deal with leave stuff?).

But yes, I'd imagine your leave is gone. I also think you'd only get paid five days and the other five days are unpaid, which is really shit given the circumstances. If you have some form of personal insurance that may cover you. Some employers may cover you, but I doubt they are under any obligation. But they might cover you, depending on how much they value their employees. Just going to have to talk with whoever handles leave.

Sorry to backtrack, but we are so passive in Australia. We rarely if ever properly protest and when it does come to that it's an orderly waste of time used only as social media fodder for the "righteous".

I was amazed when I went to Europe and noted how passionate a lot of cultures are to actually bringing about change through protest not just voice opinions ad nauseum.

Has anyone participated in a protest srs?

I look at most of them and just think nah "cbf'd". Horrible attitude I know.

The only thing I would legit protest is if they decided to bring conscription back or introduce a state religion (unless it was Judaism...mmmm bagels!)

I've protested against, HECS, two Iraq wars, Apartheid, refugee policy, Rumsfeld being in town, Tony Abbott being PM, I find it really empowering.

I would protest in favour of increased prison sentences for sexual offences.

I will also be there the day they release Adrian Bayley ie. scum.

I reckon it would have a lot do with standard of living. If you look at things compared to the rest of the world our biggest protests have been the raising of uni fee's (still very lucky to not have to pay upfront), marriage equality (hardly life or death) and probably asylum seekers. The asylum seekers is the biggest but has no real impact on the people who would be protesting for it.

If all of a sudden there were no jobs in Aus and we were being lead by a corrupt government I'd be out there flipping cars.

Thought so, I am hoping to get back Monday, so hopefully there will be no unpaid leave.

I was under the impression that you were not allowed to go back to work if you had a medical certificate saying you were unfit for work incase something went wrong at work then your work would be liable? Insurance issues or some shit

MEB_ plz confirm

Depends on internal company policy. I would be asking for a clearance cert from doc but it's not required by law.

fair i work for a large company, so, probably just covering themselves - had people get sent home before when they get in with a certificate says they shouldn't be in.
