Good thing is, doctorates are actually free for the first four years thanks to the governments "ideas boom". They pay for PhD's by research, so I actually wouldn't be out of pocket aside from decreased income for the few years i'm a student.
"Under the Australian Government's Research Training Scheme (RTS), domestic* research degree students are exempt from tuition fees for a limited time only. Students who exceed these times are liable to pay tuition fees.
