Since 2000 when its been 1v4, 2v3 etc in week 1, only 2 top 4 sides have gone out in straight sets, us in 2001 had to play Brisbane in the heat and humidity then play Hawks after September 11, and WCE in 2007, lost to us then Pies in extra time, after drugs ravagged their season. Both sides finished 3rd. Both Hawks and Pies lost PF's by small margins (9pts and 5pts respectively).

The only top 4 side to lose week 1 and then make GF were 3 sides who went on to win it, ie Brisbane in 2003 to Collingwood, Sydney 2005 to WCE, West Coast 2006 to Sydney,
See, I knew I wasnt talking out of my arse.

^2005 pisses me off. With every self-inflicted wound we still made it to week 2.

Any semblance of competence and back-to-back was right on the cards.

Yep 2005 was the big disaster. 2003 We had no Primus, James an Francou for most of the year and all of the finals. A GF should have been made, but without our first ruck division I couldn't see us winning. 2005 should have been the year of consolidation both on and of the field $$$$ wise. It was a bloody yo-yo disaster year.

Why does the word 'unnatural' have negative connotations associated with it?
Is there really a difference between 'abnormal' and 'unnatural'?

Yes- "that's an abnormal second head growing out of your face" and "that is an unnatural gait that you have".

The Cadbury ad with Daisy and Goodes featuring the oldish gent.

Now I'm not the world's most hairless guy, but his cape of greying pubes draped off his shoulders brings forth an unfiltered verpshake.

Get the old bastard a long-sleeve or I'm switching to Nestlé and will proudly pronounce it 'Nessles' like the glory days of yore.

Am I the only one who thinks that was a point and the Video Review was used in the correct fashion? Isn't that what it's there for? Lol @ it being labelled 'controversial'.

7 showing their Vic-based bias.

Of course it's conclusive. Learn how camera angles can make a difference as to whether it appears to go over or not.

2005 was a bloody frustrating year, with some pretty nice highs and some devastating lows rounding out to be about even, but I don't think we could have challenged West Coast or Sydney, even at our best. West Coast made absolute mincemeat of us over at Subi that year with the Judd-Cosuins-Kerr-Fletcher etc. etc. show destroying us and Sydney had no troubles beating us as they have ever since really. We should not have lost the semi final showdown by such a horrendous margin, but I think we were also pretty comfortably behind Adelaide that year too.

West Coast - was the best side that year
Sydney - had the perfect gameplan and players for the warfare of finals
Adelaide - were kind of a mix of the gun individual players that West Coast had and the defensive system of the Swans, yet was kind of a jack of all trades, but master of neither when it counted.

-----------

Port
St Kilda - pretty much neck and neck with us. Forwardline of Riewoldt, Gehrig, Milne was potent and the brilliance of Harvey took them to an unlikely prelim final berth.

St Kilda were comfortably better than us and them reaching the Prelim wasnt unlikely. They were one of the pre season premiership favourites and were a S Burgoyne smother away from probably being in the GF the year before. They were expected to at least make the Prelim and probably should have made the GF.

In some parts of the world to say "Luke Darcy" to a person is the equivalent of taking a shit on their mothers chest.

It's best not to say his name anywhere just to be sure.

...or in this instance, maybe a 'Hot Carla'.

It's called a 'Hot Carl' around here matey.

Or a Luke Darcy in some parts of Latvia and the more remote areas of Siberia.
