WTF? The closer the universe is a uniform temperature and density the more support there is for the big bang theory. It's the discrepancies in the cosmic microwave background radiation and the universes composition across space that is the subject of why this occurred.

This argument always amuses me, religion and science are not separate, nor are they equals, they are methods of attaining the same thing....understanding. What science can prove does not disprove God, what religious type believe does not invalidate science. The battle lines are a strange Pentecostal 20th Century concoction an do nothing for either side.
Fundamentalism either way only leads to less knowledge.

Religious types should not be bothered by the proofs of science. If God is real science will not disprove it and anything learnt brings people closer to understanding God. Worship of books is a strange thing, particularly books most of them haven't even read.

Science types should know better than to claim to have all the answers.

If the universe is expanding then it would be getter warmer.
What is very difficult to grasp is how did all matter get into a tiny space and why did it then expode?
Just think scientists need to come up with something more credible than having all matter the size of a pinhead.

Yeah not really how religion and philosophy develops, this is the same type of mis argument that non scientists give to theories like evolution and the big bang. You are falling into the exact same fallacy of over simplification.

Science can not prove or disprove God, but it can prove or disprove 'theories' put forward by religion (such as Adam and Eve, the Earth formed in 7 days etc.). They can co-exist peacefully if believers are pragmatic. Whilst I'm an atheist my wife believes in God, but not most of the Bible as she believes in science as well. These sorts of believers I have all the time for, it's the fundamentalists that can be a major pain.

You don't understand what temperature is. Temperature is crudely a measure of energy of a system, in this case the universe. By increasing the volume of the universe (as it expands), the average temperature at any point is going to decrease over time. Eventually the universe will be a cold lifeless place at almost 0 degrees Kelvin (trillions of years down the track).

You are getting dogma and belief mixed up. You are also going by a very narrow view of Adam and Eve, the Earth formed in 7 days etc. which is ironically a 20th Century idea. Adherence to a book is very different to belief in God, though many (who haven't even read the book properly) can't separate them, on either side.

The fundamentalists are a minority.

Both. It is a largely constant temperature and that temperature average is dropping, whilst remaining constant by and large across the universe. Given you don't want to believe in the big bang I'm not inclined to go into inflation, dark energy and an expanding rate of expansion. This thread has taken a turn towards virtual banging of the head against the wall. Whether we think Adelaide supporters are an evolutionary oddity or evidence that God has a sick sense of humour I think we can all agree a topic other than religion would go down a treat about now!

Ie. there'll be no 'big crunch' down the line. Inflation refers to cosmic inflation, when shortly after the big bang the universe expanded much more rapidly then it has since. I'm only an astronomy fan, but there are plenty of professors, noble winners and the like you can easily reference for any of this on the internet that don't rely on 'And so god said' as their evidence.

Since you don't believe in the big bang as everything coming from something the sin of a pin head (smaller actually), do you write off the existence of black holes since they are, not the universe, but up to millions of times the mass of our sun compressed into a singularity?

Black holes simply are the result of "dead stars" and can be proven, the Milky Way and i think all galaxies have a black hole in the middle. I use a pin head so people can understand and even this ridiculous small size is too big for the theorists. There's still a long way to go to begin to understand the universe, 42.
