Why was there all that hype over Bill Lawry during the Melbourne Test, "legend of commentary" and all that rubbish? He's one of the most god awful commentators in the history of sport broadcasting. Probably second behind Tony Grieg.

Because Bill was such a boring batsman the last half of his career, that he was called the Corpse with Pads, and his commentary style was 180 degrees opposite to that with so much enthusiasm.
