Quick scan of the budget - more of my money to pay back Labors defecit.

Why can't poor people fix what they voted for instead of me?

At the very least Christine Milne and Tanya Plibersek could tap dance in bikinis in front of my house for my amusement while I pay for all their shit decisions.

I cant believe families who earned up to 150k were getting a tax break! Far out!!!! What about us singles earning less than half that? Friggin insane that families were getting that much support.

Apparently Tony Abbott's budget views me favorably

What have I done wrong in my life to deserve such an endorsement?

We have a combined income of well a fair bit and I thought we might get smashed in the budget but I did the Daily Telegraphs calculator and we got a big green NO CHANGE. Well apart from that 2% levy.

Thanks Tone.

It'd be funny if the rationale used for schemes like HECS and the pension was used for other concessions.

Family Tax benefits being repayable with interest once your child turns 18, for one.

Access to the low rate of Capital Gains Tax being means tested, so that if you have over $500k assets, you pay full marginal rate.

Agree 100%.

Happy with the budget. (As you all knew I would be.)

Apart from a couple of WTF components, it's a pretty stock standard conservative budget.

No one should be surprised.

Yup. I'm being hit by all the changes to universities and HECS, but it's only fair really. I've cost the country a lot of money to be a qualified bigfooty derp merchant.

This no tapatalk thing will ******* do me I swear it.

Bigfooty is unusable on a browser on a smartphone and I go back to work on Friday so I wont have so much PC access.

I don't have a problem using the browser - it's not fantastic but its not that bad either - you lose a bit of content, like sigs, so are you on the 'default' style of Big Footy Cool? the 'Warm' on a smartphone is pretty ****ed.

The age of entitlement is over according to Joe Hockey. PIGS ARSE.

Wyatt Roy - the first time he voted he was 20 and elected himself to parliament. If he is in parliament for 8 years he gets 50% of his salary as a pension increasing by 2.5% for each year of service until 18 years or more for 75%. Unless the preservation rules have changed, he can draw that when he leaves parliament. Bill O'Chee about 10-12 years ago was in parliament for a decade from mid 20's to mid 30's and drew on his pension straight after he left.

yeah the age of entitlements is over.

I haven't been watching the budget news because I can't be bothered having more things to be angry about, but I find it difficult to believe that Joe Hockey pronounced a four-syllable word.

Bro Hockey

It's not really a surprise budget, but it is pretty awful that we are throwing away lots of things we take for granted in order to solve a "budget emergency" that doesn't exist.

Universal health care and affordable education should be non negotiables. All this garbage about "setting us up for the future" while at the same time making it much more expensive to afford a degree? Does anybody else see that as alarmingly short sighted? Not only from a nation development point of view but from a political point of view. Screw the poor over then make more people poor.

The uncapped degrees are a good measure to get universities to a) be more competitive and b) improve their product, don't really have an issue with it. You still get HECS, you will just pay more overall for your education. You don't even notice HECS coming out of your pay anyway, really.
