$10 for anyone who can name all of them in under 10 seconds.

Great doco on The Saints on ABC right now.
Stranded.
Heh. Memories.

I went on a school camp to Canberra in year 9 and, being 14, I was obscenely stoned for the duration of the trip.

At one point we went to a place. I don't know what it actually was called, but it was like a 'sound museum' or archive of some sort. It was really cool.

One of the teachers said that something smelled funny, and I thought he was talking about me. So a little bit of paranoia kicked in from that point.

Anyway, we went and sat down in this little theater thing within this museum. I was in my seat and I was completely unable to move. Well, I mean, I could have, but I didn't have the will to move. I was paranoid and didn't want the teachers to know I was stoned. So I was 'seat-locked' for all intents and purposes.

Anyway, the first thing they showed us was the Stranded film clip. I'm not sure of the significance of it but I will never forget that moment. The song was only a couple minutes long but it felt like spacetime itself was stretching and stretching. One breath was an eternity. That song, Stranded, felt like it would never end. Ever. Because I couldn't move, I genuinely felt stranded on my own. It was such a surreal experience.

ScreenSound?

Or whatever it might've been called back then.

Now it gets the lofty National Film & Sound Archive title.

Always liked seeing stuff at the Shine Dome....

Yep tremendous doco. Of all the shit I have read about Joh and his dodgy coppers I never knew they were trying to close down rock and punk bands playing music to the extent tbey showed in the doco.

Does anyone remember being excited that we drafted an Eckerman & an Ezard? or was it just me

Brad Symes, Hugh Jackman, Fabian Deluca, Ben Eckerman, Jonathan Giles, James Ezard
Brad Symes (2nd round pick), Fabian Deluca (2nd round pick), Ben Eckerman (3rd round pick), Jonathan Giles (1st round pick*), James Ezard (2nd round pick). Couldn't find Jackman.
And people arc up about swapping high picks for Dixon.

* Edit: Portia has reminded me Giles was pick 70 (R1 of the rookie draft, not the main draft as my lazy research suggested).

In fairness, I thought Eckerman had a reasonable start to his career, before being polaxed by Tyson Stenglein half way throw his second game, and never playing again.

Giles was pick 70 for us, Powerstufff

They were all fairly shit picks, and we suffered as a club because these were the guys on our list after we traded our early picks away for players.

So, uh, I think your argument is completely opposite of what you want?

Had our first plasma installed the morning of that game.

Have never seen a horror show unfold with such clarity.

I was actually just properly starting to follow football at this stage, and I forever thought tyson stenglein was some massive unit after that hit. Over time I realised he was actually slightly built and eckermann simply got #rekt.

That's a fair old "Doh!" from me, Giles was R1 of the rookie draft.
Shreds of my argument remain (in my opinion) but losing a R1 player from it hasn't helped. We stopped the boats.

Brad Symes - Pick #30 2003, 4th worst 2nd round pick
James Ezard - Pick #34 2004, 2nd worst 2nd round pick
Fabian Deluca - Pick #35 2004, worst 2nd round pick
Ben Eckermann - Pick #51 2004, worst 3rd round pick
Jonathan Giles - Pick #70 2005, fifth round pick, second last pick in draft

Even in their draft pick categories they're the shittest. Sorry-not-sorry!
