One scene I've always found captivating during the overblown ending to Lord of the Rings Return of the King, is when the hobbits return to the Shire as war heroes, having just saved the world from evil, and the locals at the pub care more about a pumpkin.

I guess hobbits are just smaller bogans with no appreciation of worldly affairs.

Why the **** did they delay A League Of Their Own for 2 hours?. Gina Davis' long legs still will make an appearance tonight. :thumbsu:

I lived in Keith for 2 years, the most xenophobic place I've ever encountered.

I used to drive through there on the way to Bordertown where I worked in the mid-90's. Pretty town but I never stopped in to talk to the locals.

Working in the meatworks in Bordertown- there was some rough blokes there! Good thing we have these small country towns to hide these people in.

I was there from 1989 - 1991. My daughter was 4 - 6 whilst there, we got to know all the various playgrounds. At Keith there is the 100 - 120 metre mono-rail train, used to be able to build up speed, she loved riding it. At Mundulla there is the very steep long slippery dip, she also loved that, The small zoo at Pinnaroo was fun, as was Mt Monster south of Keith.

However the people at Keith were all "locals", no-one else was a "local" unless you had 4-5 generations occupying the cemetery. At Coonalpyn, Tintinara, Pinnaroo & Bordertown a lot of my work was set up while at the local pubs. Lameroo wasn't a profitable area for me.

I love the rag supporters that "don't care" anymore.

First time in their lives they have seen hard times and they bail quicker than a crow leaning grandma at the ringing of the three quarter time bell.

And now Petr Cech is dead. This weekend just keeps getting better.

I lived there for 5 years but was too young to know anything except the school had a flying fox and there was a rollercoaster in the park.

I enjoy the theatre of soccer, thus I enjoy reading about it in this thread.

Cannot stand watching it as a sport however.

I lived there for 6 months with my old man playing B grade cricket as a 16 year old. We weren't much good at cricket but the drinking was what we were good at it. Keith is a drive in drive out place nothing more, though did see a grown man have his rats tail pulled from his scalp post a game of cricket so that was my only highlight of Keith.
