I got a Montreal Expos cap when I was a kid so I go for them - Go 'Spos. Yeah!
That means I go for all Montreal teams in US sport - except Ice Hockey, I go for the Florida Marlins because I like fishing.

Why is it that when teams in the USA move cities they always keep their nicknames? I mean, Minnesota Lakers sounds good because well..... Minnesota is well known for it's great lakes. Los Angeles on the other hand is not known to have any great lakes.

Because more often then not the brand is the nickname not name of the state. But from time to time you get a Tennessee Titans, which started as the Houston Oilers then became the Tennessee Oilers then they changed their nickname to the Titans.

The Raiders is one of the most recognisable and marketable brands in the world. Even if they moved to Chatanooga they would stay the Raiders for that reason.

Guess this is the right thread to dump a random thought.

F**k me dead - just noticed it's coming up on 15 years I've been using this site. That seems like a crazy amount of time.

You've been posting here since nearly three years before Dylan8 was born.

And the Jazz moved to Salt Lake City where they don't allow music

I'd also quickly add that not "every shop" allows a customer to purchase something and enter into an agreement to pay within a certain time frame, and then simply not pay.

Even the conventional lay-by system requires some financial commitment via a deposit on the buyers part, a deposit they lose if they later choose not to purchase the item. Unless you're Chokito, then you just get stuff put aside for you.
For goodness sake It's like Godwin's Law.. I just wait until Chokito merch drama is mentioned. From now on referred to as Chokito's Merch

the Expos no longer exist, they're now the Washington Nationals

if it's any consolation, the Nats are a good team

Agree, Lakers makes sense only in Minnesota. They should have renamed them the LA Angels when they relocated.

Land of 10,000 lakes,
only one of them, Lake Superior, great :)

We definitely need more Baseketball references around here, as a general rule.

I've had a couple of mates who hated soccer go over, live and work in the UK, and become die hards after only going to a few games.

From "wogball, like watching paint dry, divers" to "it's ****in' awesome".

I was like this. Had a passing interest in Liverpool during the harry kewell era. I then moved over there for a couple of years and got tickets to quite a few spurs games through friends and so jumped on board. Love the game now.

Left right feft schmight. I don't pick a side and then let it dictate what my opinions are.

I am a fan of small government, tight borders and can't stand a lot of the absurd attempts at social upheaval going on. Forced gender pronouns? GTFO.

Also don't subscribe to the notion that the environment has to always be prioritised over the economy. I would probably vote Yes for the nuclear waste storage for example.

I also made finbarr blow his lid as I defended Clinton's sanctions against Iraq.

Extreme left my ringa!
I read this in Ron Swanson's voice.
