Ranga Ediriwickrama...

I know there have been previous threads about what the GFC need in the upcoming draft, but I love the look of the way the Ranga goes about it. His u18s carnival (when fit) was more than exceptional.....

Anybody know where he's at right now???

Do we still want to take him in November???

Would have been a top 20 pick had he been in the draft. We will take him 100% sure of that. I think in terms of our list development we shoudl rookie him. He probably wouldnt play a game in his first two seasons. Leave him on the rookie list and let him develop at his own pace then promote him. Will also mean we can take 3 picks in the ND

Under 18 All Australian Midfielder ahead of Daniel Rich so definitely got some talent - but I agree if we can draft him as a rookie why not.

Why would he agree to being rookied if he would be top 20?

If I was him and geelong offered a rookie position I would tell them where to go and get on a list with another club that wants to actually give me a contract to play.

From what I know, he has signed a contract with the club. Which means we can choose, not the other way around. Either way he probably won't play senior footy in his first year, why not put him on there and save a spot for someone else?

Would he be paid more on the main list than he would be if he was put on the rookie list?

thought this was about him, wanted to check it out, very jealous you guys have first dibs on him.

I think the terms of the Scholarship program is that the kid must be taken in the draft, simmilar to the F/S, and if he is not, he is fair game for the comp.

Hawks have the same problem with Will Langford. F/s, Scholarship or risk him....

would you guys really give up a chance to snag another gun within the rules, but still making a lot of people envious?

He isn't in a position to tell us anything.

He's signed a contract which grants us first choice on him in his eligible year.
Whether we put him on the senior or rookie list is totally at our discretion.

If we choose not to do either, then he can enter the national draft.

We have to nominate, prior to the draft, if we wish to add the player to either the senior or rookie list.

If we don't, then he can nominate for the draft like any other kid.

I'd put him on the main list. Not only does it strike me as being grossly unfair to a guy with that much talent to essentially cheat him out of an honest wage...top 20 pick in a deep draft, built like a brick and captain of his state side, I'd want him to have at least tasted senior footy in his first year.

And Mitchell Madness: it's our choice whether or not he goes rookie or main draft. We get first dibs either way.

If Geelong want to put him on the rookie list instead of the senior list he has to agree or he can enter the open draft if that is what he wants.

ahh, ok. it is a little confusing this scholarship system. You guys are going to get a gun of a kid, an instant cult hero (ala Josh Thurgood) lets just hope the kids turns out a little better:thumbsu:

best of luck next week, cant wait to bury you the week after:p
