GAME STATS POKER:
Poker night last night was a little raucous, everyone was pretty pumped after the win against the Furies and the chud stocks were depleted to a dangerously low level! A couple of players threw in their hands early and disappeared, allegedly to visit the Scarlet Latte "coffee shop" around half-past polnoch.
But we do have some winners! Unlike last week, the results were more clear-cut, with 3KZ a clear 1st place fielding four of a kind. Broken slotted into second spot with a hand of three 2's and two 4's. Third place was still a bit of a cluster*, five players showing three 1's to share in the pool of 3rd, 4th and 5th place winnings.

How The Game Is Played :
- Match stats are observed, extracting each stat for each player from Hitouts to Behinds.
- - Dreamteam and Exie Points are ignored.
- - Zeroes are also ignored.
- - There are no suits.
- Each stat is treated as though the player holds a card with that number.
- - It doesn't matter if you had 33 handballs, in this game 33 happens to be a card in that case!
- - Nor does it matter if you hold 7 cards. You have as many valid cards as you have non-zero stats.
- All players are given CM100 to start for the poker night corresponding to the first round in which they are named as a player.
- For every game in which a player participated, they play poker that night, and contribute CM5 to the kitty for that night. That's a total of CM100 up for grabs each round.
- A Poker Night is played after every game of the season, including any finals we may play.
- If we played 4 weeks of finals, this would amount to 20 games.
- If you play every game, that's the full CM100 gambled.
How Winnings Are Dispersed :
All transactions are performed in Sweet's official currency, ClarkeMonies (CM).
The current exchange rate for CM is AUD0.8188
Kitty = 100CM (20 x 5)
- 1st place winnings = CM35
- 2nd place winnings = CM20
- 3rd place winnings = CM15
- 4th place winnings = CM10
- 5th place winnings = CM5
- 6th onwards if a pair or better = CM1
- Everyone else = CM0
If there is a tie among the winners, the winnings are pooled and split. For example, if two players are equal first, they share half each of CM55.
Balance left from kitty is added to end-of-trip fund.
What's The Point? :
Players who are less active and hold down low-profile positions on the field, don't get a lot of love from the game stats. Their numbers are never double-figures, they are usually just pissy little 1's and 2's. This game rewards those who play in lower-profile positions and gives back a little love to the quiet achievers. A back pocket with a measly single kick, single handball and 1 free against for the day on the field, is actually well-placed on poker night to pick up a handy little prize! While your onballers, centreline and goalkickers get the attention, accolades and gropes from a qootball perspective, come Poker Night they are gonna be hardpressed to gather a second '9' to form a pair, while the folks in the shadows have every chance to end up with an outstanding hand. It's not always going to work that way, busy players will get more non-zeroes, but I'm saying there's a chance! It's called sharing the wealth guys!
