I am really struggling to understand why we're supposed to care that a provincial backwater like Russia apparently tried to help Trump. Everything that happens now is Russia's fault according to these losers and Reddit.

If theve compromised trump then their economic power is irrelevant. Trump will do their bidding for them. Which is exactly what he is doing in trying to withdraw from NATO, ending multilateral agreements, withdrawing from UN institutions and withdrawing from the middle east. Hell he has even allowed russia to take american built bases in Syria.
Basing your views off small examples are for idiots. Especially when there is bigger goals at stakes. Here is the overall data. The US became the world dominant power at the end of World war 2. Russia number 2. Russia turned all within its sphere to authoritarians and yet despite that democracy surged across the world. All because of the USA. Outside of eastern europe and China the USA could of created any world it wanted. Europe was decimated and everywhere else was both technological and economic backwaters. And the USA chose democracy with multilateral engagement. It freed the vast majority of the world. No other world dominant power in the history of the planet has chosen this path. It gave up much of its power for multilateralism. There is a reason why trump says past american presidents and america was screwed. Cos he is right. post world war 2 america didnt choose america first. it choose the people of the world. The Human rights charter is a thing because of america. taking land is illegal because of america.

I just don't think the external bullshit artists were that influential. There's fake news absolutely everywhere, on all sides of that election (just as it is now), on social media, fringe websites and in the MSM (who have been caught out time and again). It works both ways. That is why the Hillary server leak cut through because there's just no way it could be spun or passed off. The issue is whether the Trump campaign had any involvement and yet, here we are 4 years later?
