I have often wondered why the club prefers nice football and mongrel football is discouraged. Especially when shining examples of the success of mongrel teams are well documented i.e. Hawthorn, Geelong, Brisbane.

Given the age of our members would it have anything to do with scars from the old SANFL days "at least we don't play like those dirty Port Adelaide Magpies mongrels".
Good point. From inception we were supposed to embody skilful, attacking, handball-heavy 'South Australian' football. What wins premierships (demonstrated by Port's SANFL dominance, the Victorian style of play and the greatest AFL premiers) is take-no-prisoners campaigner footy with good skill thrown in.

Largely a Neil Craig philosophy.

We really missed a trick in not bringing Sam Mitchell across like West Coast did.

If he was prepared to go there, you’d have to assume he would have been open to coming to us as well.

I’d be on the lookout for other Hawthorn campaigners coming to retirement. Lewis would be interesting.

Ala Hodge, Mitchell and Lewis style imaging AFC players deliberately going out to cork the opposition.

Our "hardman" is now Richard Douglas. Just let that sink in.

Mitchell had a really good relationship with Adam Simpson. I don't see any way Mitchell was coming here. Hodge had a great relationship with Chris Fagan, hence Brisbane

Didn’t realize Mitchell and Simpson were close. There you go.

Point stands though, he was prepared to uproot his family and life to Perth.

If the offer is good enough there must be one player of that ilk willing to do the same.

Hawks supporters expect Mitchell to do a few years in Perth and return to Melbourne. I thought Sumich would have been a good inclusion here. I don't know whether or not it would have worked out, or if he is still getable. He fell out with Ross Lyon, however was a long term assistant to Worsfold before moving to Fremantle.

I don't know the reason he knocked back the offer initially.

Not sure its mongrel footballers but we definitely have a taste for players who come from nice middle class/rich families.

He was unlucky in 2005 & 2006. After that, his lack of flexibility became more and more of a handicap.

A good coach would have been smarter with selections in the last minor round game against WC in Perth where the result was meaningless.

Such an immature thought process going all out for zero gain. We are our own worst enemies because we have no gumption.

We're fast becoming one of those 'coulda woulda shoulda' clubs. It's a sad sad situation and it's getting more and more absurd, as Elton John once sang.

Blight, Balme, Clarkson & that Jesus fellow I spose.
How about that Muhammad chap to. Certainly different, demands full commitment. It really is my way or the highway.
No more “pork pies” would be refreshing.

There's really no end of terms, they just reappointed each other. Even the member elect process is a sham because they approve the nominees and always have an ex-Crow up their sleeve.

But there was 4 points on offer plus the continuity credits.

We need a few players with mullets in our team. Even during the game last night two of the dirty hawks players had filthy mullets. Mongrel. Roughing up Eddie. I saw it in the forward pocket and shouted out to him to get a f*^ckn haircut.
We are such choir boys.
