Let's change the subject and talk about some players Adelaide could target in this years draft. Whos's having good pre-seasons and players that could surprise us. I'm already sick of this merger with Sturt and us and it hasn't even happened yet. Talk about it when it happens.:)

Some posts are simple and some are simplistic.
Yours is a simplistic one.

Why did Port make a loss when they were averaging a shade under 30K and had one of if not the leanest off field teams?
Why are Port not allowed to sell home games interstate if both Port and the SANFL makes losses from them?
Why are the Crows making losses whilst having one of the very best average attendance figures?
Where is all the money going? We know it only comes from the Crows and Port, but where is it ending up?

ps Encore catering has a very high turnover, its easy to find using google.

Whatever way you spin it.
The Power are still in debt to the SANFL.
:thumbsu:

Whatever way you spin it the SANFL are still getting there 13 million a year from the AO deal..which should have be divided between the crows and Port...ohh plus encore catering and carparking as well.

Keep telling yourself thats the case and it might come true.
When you blokes become relevant in the AFL again, and remove those tarps. Come talk to me

Dont disagree.
Mainly the Crows though as we will do the heavy lifting.

I was hoping that a thread on the SANFL would actually be a positive thread about the SANFL and discuss the current crop of Crows players and how they are performing in the SANFL.
I'm sure there's a 100 threads on the SANFL 'blood sucking scum draining the AFL teams" somewhere and the hatred could be discussed there again and again and again.
As a committed SANFL goer I'll write what I saw at Richmond on Saturday in their trial against Glenelg.

Firstly I love the way Lyons plays and in the trial he was on the ball. Found the ball all day was clean with his takes but at times his disposal did let him down. Not so much his kicking but he got caught or ran out of room to find a team mate. We all know he doesn't possess get speed but he showed his football smarts as he was easily one of the best. I feel a touch sorry for him because Crouch I think has the spot covered at the moment which I think Lyon could fill. A class above SANFL IMO.
Didn't see Lynch but I also didn't have a player number sheet so he my have been out there but I didn't recognise him if he was.
Rory Laird looked to only play the second half and didn't really get into the game. Glenelg was in control so it was hard to make an impression in that small time frame.
I was impressed with Lewis Hender didn't look overly quick but he has a footy brain and a stocky hard body. Lovely left foot kick and he didn't waste many possessions. Both teams blooded a lot of youngster so I'll be looking forward to seeing them progress.
Good first up trial.

Poor old Lyons. Was one of our best against Port then one quiet week against Fremantle has him squeezed out of contention for the likes of Sam Kerridge.

I'm a really big fan but I wonder whether he regrets not looking elsewhere at the end of last year.

Prefer this thread direction. Thanks LC40

perhaps he has a bit of intestinal fortitude?

what is to suggest that if he can't make it here, he'd make it elsewhere?

I think it's a fair assumption that there are other clubs where he'd be getting more opportunity. Adelaide has one of the best midfields in the league and has had very few midfield injuries recently. But do you think Port Adelaide would ignore a 19 year old midfielder who's conistently dominant in the SANFL? They select people for showing a flicker of form in the magoos.

I hope you are right - I though his kicking wass ordinary. Certainly not anyway near the bloke in your avi :)
Thats the pace of AFL, the pressure that he isnt used to. Once he adapts, even Callinan took time to adapt to the shorter amount of time with the ball.

Lyons seems to have pace where it counts, in his head, he just needs to calm down a little bit.

What utter crap. It's Port Power and their legion of bandwagoners that have done most damage.

Mate, you're a good lad and normally a good contributor, but living in Outer Mongolia must have really got to you this time. :D

Your posts in this thread certainly don't represent your finest hour.

Yes, the SANFL reap too much money off the clubs - its their licences. Unfortunately they set those rules, and your club agreed to abide by them.

Port got their licence from the SANFL - the AFL licence it to the SANFL, and you have a sub-licence from the SANFL. You got the right to beat the other clubs to get that sub-licence by claiming that there would be 35,000 screaming fans in teal, black and white, with an average IQ of 45, at each and every game on average.

Ha, ha, ha. What we didn't know was that 20,000 of them would be represented by a handful of tarps - which actually raised the total and average IQ of the crowd. :)

Port supporters keep bleating about the money that the SANFL get. It has to get a reasonable amount, because by agreeing to taking the AFL licences, it agreed to wreck its own powerful competition, and to reduce the ability of its SANFL clubs to earn money, hence the need to give them money to survive.

I do agree that the SANFL takes too much because it gives its clubs too much - but not by the total amount it gets from Port or Crows matches. They are entitled to a reasonable return.

However, because Port has up until this year been a pathetic imitation of a footy club for the last 4 or so years that needs constant propping up to prevent it going into liquidation - nasty but true - it has financially wrecked the SANFL who have been drained all of their financial resources completely. The SANFL want to give you away for nothing to the AFL, with the only fight being that the AFL doesn't want you until the end of this year, while the SANFL want to give you away now. Neither party wants to have to cough up with the 3 or 4 million to keep you alive this year.

To blame anybody else for the mis-management within Port Adelaide and to a lesser degree the SANFL, is completely shying away from facts, which normally is totally foreign to you.

Time for another beer or two, my friend. :)

He doesn't look to be in the class of either of those two unfortunately. A bit like Kerridge, he lacks the obvious tools to be an impact player.

Super skilled and smart mover.
I think if he was able to string a few games together rather then 1 or 2 here and there, and a couple as the sub as well. He'll prove he cam play at the level.
Might not be in the same class, but i think can offer more to the team.

Bang

The AFL wont either. Part of moving to AO is that the AFL will schedule a game there every week.

Alberton would struggle with more thwn 10k there now. And is less accessible than Footy Park. Also as a supporter do you really only want to see your team live only 8 or 9 times a year live? It works for the small vic clubs because their members can go to "away" games at their home venue. We can only do that once a year.

Not correct.

I can only speak about what I know to be correct and years back if a supporter group wanted to donate money to both the PAFC and the PAMFC they would have been "deregistered" or whatever from tbeing an official PAFC supporter. It just wasn't allowed. Individuals would and did "donate" to the Magpies.

Port had a chance at one stage to do an Hawthorn type sponsorship with the Outer Mongolian Government but guess what ... the SANFL needed the "losses" from these games and Port became the permanent away team instead.

Port are the main reason for the SANFL being incompetent? Be real, their own incompetence is the reason for being incompetent.
