Half time in Sturt North game. 8 goal to zero quarter leaves North up by 37. Sturt had more scoring shots at the poor end than North, but managed to drop one short, kick one into man on the mark, bounce one on the boundary line and kick one out on the full. Tambling did a little better with his disposal, not much. Managed to get flattened in a ruck contest and then have 2 players sit on him while he was still down. Riley off again with a seperate blood rule to the first one. Sturt had rub of the green. Kerridge again was unseen on the tv screen for much of the quarter and when he was on screen did little of any value. Non Crows who impressed that quarter were Amato (very draftable), Thring, Greenslade, Harms and Hinge. Greenslade goes at the ball very hard and has quick hands.

Agree with basically all of this.

Thring's one who interests me and is one I wonder whether we could perhaps look at developing into a small forward. Probably not big enough to play through the midfielder/half back at AFL level like he does at SANFL level, but is quick, hard, finds the footy and has great skills.

Tambling will probably get picked based on "experience".

He's frustrating, his work to actually get the footy is clearly a level above SANFL, however he just shows no care or thought in his disposal. Its a little like watching Symes, his game is all about finding the footy and just getting it to a team mate, job done. Really should be looking to do more with his disposal.

Could easily be a rookie selection. Also like Amato as a player. Not sure if he would fit a need for us, but he does look like he could play AFL. Doesn't seem slow, neat disposals, tough and goes when it's his time to go. Was not impressed with Kerridge that quarter. Could've gone back with the flight to spoil a mark and help his team mate, but chose not to. When the wind was up, Sturt's kicks were falling short both into and with the wind. When the wind dropped, they started kicking it above the player's heads.

Seems like Hartigan had a decent game in a side that got belted from looking at the stat sheet. Did anybody see him play?

Game over at Prospect with North pantsing Sturt. Tambling got the ball a lot, worked hard to get it but turned it over a lot. Riley was alright, would've got more of the ball if he wasn't off so much with the blood rule. Kerridge was a lot better in the last quarter but was MIA for the first 3. Would've given him 2/10 for first 3, 7/10 for last. James Craig gave Graham a beating today. Graham was probably worse than Kurtze also. McIntyre was quiet but still finished with 2 goals.

Watched the Sturt v North game on TV:
Tambling: As I've mentioned early worked really hard to find the footy and his work off the ball can't be faulted, unfortunately when he gets it he just shows care for his disposal, whilst they were pretty tough conditions, as an AFL player playing at SANFL level you should be looking to do more with the footy than he was. Unfortunately this seems pretty endemic amongst our entire side, there just doesn't seem to be enough emphasis on players actually valuing their touches and looking to damage the opposition.
Riley: Can see why he's struggling to find a spot in the side, goes in hard but similar to Tambling just struggles to hit targets by foot and be really damaging for his side. Just looks like a good SANFL player, doesn't actually stand out as an AFL player.
Graham: Again, doesn't stand out as being an AFL listed player. Looked okay early and took a nice mark in the forward line, but his foot skills are average and really doesn't look any threat to Jacobs.
Kerridge: Was Mr Invisible in the first half. Got involved more so in the second half, however was hardly a standout contributor. I wonder whether he's injured or just burnt out but looks a shadow of his earlier season self. I think James Gallagher put it best when he said it looks like he's running around with his hand break on. Don't expect him to be in the side after that effort.
McIntyre: Its a tough role as a small marking forward, especially if you don't really have a midfield game to fall back on. Has some pretty cool tricks, but really just doesn't do enough and stay involved enough. Is a more than likely delist candidate.

Hartigan stats interesting . Did he spend some time up forward? Looks a good game.

Grigg carving it up in a good side.

Nice to see Grigg coming on. Should be ready in 2015 for a run at full back.

you mean eased into the side on a wing in 2014?

with mackay spudding it up week in week out, the time might be closer than you think to have smith and grigg on the outside.

So in short no one demanding a spot, and with Tambling being best performed youd hope no one gets said spots

Sorry guys I meant from that particular game. Grigg certainly looks like getting a crack

Stiffy had another quiet one. If they didn't reward his good form but pick him after two average games our selectors would have well and truly lost the plot.

Passing this on from one of the champs -

Hartigan is a gun. Started in defence, switched to the forward line in the third quarter as South needed a spark. He gave it to them. Took a strong grab close to goal and converted. Took a couple more strong grabs at CHF. He's an imposing guy; very, very strong hands and leads well to the footy. Good kick, extremely strong and knows how to handle himself in the ruck too as he started the fourth quarter in the centre square taking the rucks. He was one of, if not the best South Adelaide player today.

Great pair hands, good strength, I'm excited!! Had about 15 possessions and six marks in the second half alone. Of his 9 marks I'd say at least 4/5 were contested.

And Grigg was sensational. 25+ possessions, quite a few clearances, two goals. His kick is a thing of beauty.

What's Hartigan's pace like? Is it worth promoting both Hartigan and Laird this year at the draft?
