Had a few 'close' calls, not that they're anything like some of the others in this thread. Warming up for cricket once doing some throw downs and a mate absolutely creamed a cover drive at me, lucky i got a call from somewhere as the ball was heading for me, turned my head to whoever called me and got hit square in the middle of the forehead, which i presume is probably the strongest part of the skull. If I turned a fraction earlier or later I could've been hit in the temple or in the eye, which would've at very least knocked me senseless and at worst probably killed me.

Also face planted down a 5 metre flight of concrete stairs in Madrid when I was blind drunk after a night of drinking, didn't have any real injuries apart from a knock on the head and a sore knee. Amazing I didn't knock myself out, break a bone or knock all my teeth out.

So I'm rappelling down Mount Vesuvius when suddenly I slip, and I start to fall. Just falling, ahh ahh, I'll never forget the terror. When suddenly I realize "Holy shit, Hansel, haven't you been smoking Peyote for six straight days, and couldn't some of this maybe be in your head?" And it was. I was totally fine. I've never even been to Mount Vesuvius.

Trying to light up a ciggie on a dark highway with a lighter that's nearly out of fuel, going at 100 km/h.
I was trying and trying and then when I finally lit it, i look up and i was about to go into a ditch on my left.
Luckily, i swerved just in time
