Cotchin must make it. I don'tcare what anyone says.
Who does Maric have as opposition? Jacobs and Cox? Both probably just ahead of him. Will go close.
Deledio has been thereabouts for a few years now and has done his pennance. About time he gets picked.

I know stats aren't everything but Mullet stacks up quite well against both.

They are clueless ****wits. Been to many a game at the SCG and they are the most ignorant, foolish and idiotic excuses for supporters I have ever had the misfortune to see.
at least when i go to swans v tiges i don't get abused while leaving and sitting at the ground... not all states treat AFL as a religion tugs

p.s with that type of post you might as well support carlton ..

do you live out there roachy?...i once lived in west ryde, meadowbank back in '93...got a dreadful bout of homesick and ended back in Melb in '94

Castle Hill... it's a good spot.

Making me physically ill watching the Dees beat up GC like this at the G. 40 points at 1/4 time FFS.

I like this off the how do we tank against Richmond thread from the Dogs board:

We do not want to loose to a crap side like the tiggers, it would be a bigger disaster than loosing to Melbourne

Hard enough watching Melbourne bash a team we should have, what about Carlton! How the hell did we lose to them

Good to see Grimes doctors other patient win the 100m Gold.

195 cm, 94 kg and only 25....get grimesy to have a talk to the U-Bolt and we have our mobile big man..just put him on the wing and give him the ball and he ends up on the goal line in a flash and wont need to know how to kick it, just toe poke it through...forget Cloke, we should target Bolt.

Bolt destroyed it.

We should offer Jamaica Mcguane, Graham, mini Maric, Dea, Webberley, Miller, Jackson and all our rookies for Bolt:p

The Libba drug scandal.

Compared to the Dusty/Connors thing it's like one of those cat rescued from tree news story's.. And he was actually using drugs and in possession of them.

The media and opposition supporters absolutely despise us. Just imagine when we are good again.

Well they had better get ready for that bigger disaster, as I cant see us losing this one.

No way, they love us. We sell newspapers and cram radio talkback. :thumbsu:

Dogs are boring and this will be old news come Wednesday.

It will be interesting to check the Huns coverage tomorrow. Dusty/Connors had front page, pages 4 and 5, half page opinion in the prime Editorial location, 3 full sports pages and large back page header. Massive and the public lapped it up. We sell, thats why after 30 years of nothing we have 53k membership base.

Reckon the HS will do 3 full double page spreads in the same paper like they did for us?

They will probably have a tiny article in the sports section with no picture :p

AFL footballers know that any screw up is going to be front page news. Your everyday 20-year-old passing out in the middle of the street is not news.
Smart people make dumb decisions all the time. I can't comment on Tom's IQ, but I can comment on the stupid decision he made and it enivitably leads to speculation that it might not have been the first time either. It might have been, but any move by an AFL footballer is scrutinised.
Anyway, you're right. It's a preview thread. Perhaps we can take the discussion to the 'Richmond only' thread?
Agreed it was a dumb decision. I still stand by the point however that it doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean he has a problem. He might - but this is not evidence enough. I guarantee you many young Bulldog players were out up to the same stuff as Libba was on Saturday night, only Libba had the misfortune of passing out in the street where obviously there is a strong police presence.

It probably wasn't the first time, in fact I'm sure it wasn't. That would make him one of about 300.

That's fair enough.
But by saying 'help' I wasn't necessarily referring to conselling or psychological help. By help, I was referring to his parents and those closest to him to support him, but also to remind him that sort of behaviour will have him on a downward spiral to oblivion very quickly.
Mistakes are OK, as long as they are not fatal and don't have lasting repercussions on you or anyone else and as long as they are only made once.
He has made a big one.

What is his mistake? Popping a pill and passing out, or getting caught?

3AW, AFL360 and On the Couch couldnt give a stuff. On the Couch kept it until last minutes after an oldie, the McLean tanking saga.

If this was the Tiges, Cats, Blues, Hawks, Pies, Bombers imagine how massive it would be. It would be mega.

Shows the interest anyone has in the Dogs as a big fat zero.

Imagine if this was todays press release -

"EXCLUSIVE: YOUNG Richmond player Dustin Martin was found by police in a state of unconsciousness in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The Richmond became aware of the incident yesterday and are currently dealing with the matter.

It is believed the player was found in possession of a small amount of illicit substances, and was questioned by police after they found him at 3.30am on King Street in Melbourne's CBD.

The player has been placed in a diversion program by police.

The Richmond football club have failed to return calls on the matter, despite repeated attempts to contact the club in the past 24 hours.

More to come."

It would take up the first 10 pages of the HUN and knock Usain Bolt of the front and back page.

Did anyone on Fox Footy tonight actually credit us with our win over Brisbane or was it all down to Vossy starting Black as the sub?
Strange considering Slobbo picked us losing as the weekend's "Doomsday Scenario" on last Thursday's 360 and Four Eyes on OTC has been banging on for the last fortnight about us only being on the same number of wins as them.

Even the only footage they chose to show from the game in the weekend highlights package were those three Lions smothers in a row during the last quarter.o_O

You're lucky. I have been. Twice.

What is his mistake? Popping a pill and passing out, or getting caught?
Popping the pill in the first place was the mistake as it led to a series of incidents that put his AFL career at risk.
I'm not going to discuss the drug debate with you or anyone else, but putting that aside, the risks of doing so were:

losing conciousness on a notorious street where violent crime happens almost nightly
passing out on a concrete footpath that could have killed him (ie David Hookes)
being out at 3.30am in such a state on King St, where nothing good is ever going to happen
getting a strike next to his name and having it become public, something that will taint him for the rest of his career
being suspended by the club for 4 weeks and not being able to even gonear the club for the next month

AFL players are not in the position where they can act like the sad majority of 20-year-olds out there. It's a non-negotiable aspect of the profession. Dan Connors couldn't adhere to it and look where he is now. It's just the way it is, whether it's right or wrong.
I don't know how old you are, but I will presume until you tell me otherwise, that you are closer to Tom's age than I am. Sometimes it takes something like that for you to wake up and realise that you won't do anything like that again. Fortunately I am still alive to relate to you that experiece happened to me.
