It's not uncommon to see at least half the main board's first page Richmond related.
It's because so many people take the bait every time

When an old man died in the geriatric ward of a nursing home in an Australian country town, it was believed that he had nothing left of any value.
Later, when t...he nurses were going through his meagre possessions, They found this poem. Its quality and content so impressed the staff that copies were made and distributed to every nurse in the hospital.

One nurse took her copy to Melbourne. The old man's sole bequest to posterity has since appeared in the Christmas editions of magazines around the country and appearing in mags for Mental Health. A slide presentation has also been made based on his simple, but eloquent, poem.

And this old man, with nothing left to give to the world, is now the author of this 'anonymous' poem winging across the Internet.

Cranky Old Man

What do you see nurses? . . .. . .What do you see?
What are you thinking .. . when you're looking at me?
A cranky old man, . . . . . .not very wise,
Uncertain of habit .. . . . . . . .. with faraway eyes?
Who dribbles his food .. . ... . . and makes no reply.
When you say in a loud voice . .'I do wish you'd try!'
Who seems not to notice . . .the things that you do.
And forever is losing . . . . . .. . . A sock or shoe?
Who, resisting or not . . . ... lets you do as you will,
With bathing and feeding . . . .The long day to fill?
Is that what you're thinking?. .Is that what you see?
Then open your eyes, nurse .you're not looking at me.
I'll tell you who I am . . . . .. As I sit here so still,
As I do at your bidding, .. . . . as I eat at your will.
I'm a small child of Ten . .with a father and mother,
Brothers and sisters .. . . .. . who love one another
A young boy of Sixteen . . . .. with wings on his feet
Dreaming that soon now . . .. . . a lover he'll meet.
A groom soon at Twenty . . . ..my heart gives a leap.
Remembering, the vows .. .. .that I promised to keep.
At Twenty-Five, now . . . . .I have young of my own.
Who need me to guide . . . And a secure happy home.
A man of Thirty . .. . . . . My young now grown fast,
Bound to each other . . .. With ties that should last.
At Forty, my young sons .. .have grown and are gone,
But my woman is beside me . . to see I don't mourn.
At Fifty, once more, .. ...Babies play 'round my knee,
Again, we know children . . . . My loved one and me.
Dark days are upon me . . . . My wife is now dead.
I look at the future ... . . . . I shudder with dread.
For my young are all rearing .. . . young of their own.
And I think of the years . . . And the love that I've known.
I'm now an old man . . . . . . .. and nature is cruel.
It's jest to make old age . . . . . . . look like a fool.
The body, it crumbles .. .. . grace and vigour, depart.
There is now a stone . . . where I once had a heart.
But inside this old carcass . A young man still dwells,
And now and again . . . . . my battered heart swells
I remember the joys . . . . .. . I remember the pain.
And I'm loving and living . . . . . . . life over again.
I think of the years, all too few . . .. gone too fast.
And accept the stark fact . . . that nothing can last.
So open your eyes, people .. . . . .. . . open and see.
Not a cranky old man .
Look closer . . . . see .. .. . .. .... . ME!!

Remember this poem when you next meet an older person who you might brush aside without looking at the young soul within. We will all, one day, be there, too!

WTF ! Where did that come from ?

On reflection i'm inclined to agree with you. This is a perfect example of how bad he is. Embarrassing is an understatement.

Yup...thats why he choose Barnzy as a support hack...two geriatric old farts....shooting the breeze...pay good money to see that... :thumbsu: :) :thumbsu: ...

More to come . I will have a few Richard Gears before I do the rest .

Nearly peed myself Rusty, very creative if I do say so. If your going to have a few Richard gears and this affects you half as much as it did me. Make sure your not too far away from the toilet. You know I didn't know that about David Smorgan. :D:D:D

Went down to Ocean Grove beach today. Sun did not come out once while we were there
Should have jumped across the river to Barwon Heads. Was 24 here after about 2pm with the sea breeze. Suffer in ya jocks Melbourne.

I came to get a tan lol nothing but grey skyes. Was the same in Melbourne apparently. Must check weather radar next time.

Saw 2 tiger stickers on cars while there maybe you ? :p

The eye goughing salaray cap cheat Judd's wife is doing the weather for channel 9 over the summer. Another reason why I don't watch free to air TV.

Move to Ballarat and watch Jane Bunn do the weather:thumbsu::rolleyes::thumbsu:
I'd rather stay away from FTA tele altogether. In fact I might even go and download some Springsteen in itunes and listen to that as opposed to having to look and listen to that trollop. Is it wrong to hate Judd so much?

No it's perfectly natural . You never FUik around with another persons vision plain and simple. The guy is a dog.

In order

1 . Carlton by a country mile - they took the easy option we didn't
2. Saints - your on the money because of the time issue since their last flag
3. Melbourne - same reason as above and just pipped by Saints supporters because it is actually realistic that St Kilda could win a flag in the next 20 years where Melbourne can't especially after the AFL take away there next 2 -3 years of draft picks off them for taking the easy option like the Tankers.
4. Freo - they have no silverware at all and compare their time in the league with ours since they joined.
5. Essendon - most Essendon are dirty on themselves with the way they treated Matty Knights and have nearly sent themselves broke with the useless Hird and Thompson combination. Because of the Knights Richmond connection they'd vomit in their own mouths if we won a flag before them.
6. Hawthorne - not only did we poach Dimma who truley got them up for their last flag and if you don't believe me watch their last grand final appearance and tell me they are not spewing that he was not able to be with and address the players on match day but deep down every Hawthorn supporter was spewing that we picked up Tambling before they could take him with pick 5 that year. Granted they only were spewing for 5 months till they saw Buddy play but it was a very bitter 5 months for them and they have long memories.
7. West Coast - John Worsfold has a massive vagina and it is no coincidence that the one club that had a major recreational drug culture also had a qualified chemist coaching them. Other than Justin Charles Richmond players do not take drugs and West Coast supporters despise this and would hate to see us win a flag. On top of this they tanked and they are a piece of sh&t club.
8. Collingwood - I watched them train once and noticed at the end of the session that the players were handed 8kg bags of ice so they could ice their vaginas they are so soft. Gary Pert is on the money about the ice problem at his club 45 players at 8 Kilos each that is a sh$tload of ice. Their supporters are into incest and their coach hugged his coach and cried after they lost 2 flags in a row to later back stab him and take his job.
9. Western Bulldogs - The Bulldogs fans are not as into the time period reason since their last flag as much as Melbourne and The Saints flogs but in 1982 David Smorgan as a younger man went on Safari in Africa and shot 2 Beautiful Bangual Tigers and killed them dead. It was cool back then but 5 years later he got the guilts and got really depressed about it. Instead of supporting the Tigers he just got angrier and angrier with them including building a deep seeded hate for our football club. He has installed this hate on mass in evey speech he has ever given to the Bulldog masses and because he is the money man for the club they embrace it. Weak as piss I know but true story I am not exaggerating !
10. North Melbourne - they hate us because James Bradshaw is a trans and they desperately want to win a flag before us before he catches something and passes away.
11. Adelaide Crows - they are pretty relaxed about Richmonds improvement but as a club they still like to video our games themselves and turn them into the Match Review Panel. I have spoken to alot of Crows supporters that are ashamed of this and are real pro Richmond since it happened. Before round one a lot of crows supporters have organised to do a mass nudy run around Aami stadium with their willys tucked between their legs like Buffalo Bill did on Silence of The Lambs in support of Jake King and how poorly the club acted rolling over on him. They will do the same against Sydney when they meet them.
12. Sydney - speaking of Buffalo Bill is it just me or does John Longmire look like he wears eye liner. Sydney supporters aren't bad and don't hate us too much. They just hate Mitch Morton because he Seagulled a Premiership Medallion off of Benny McGlynn.
13. Brisbane - Crazy Vossy has the entire state just focused on making the 8 next year and they are all contributing in different ways. Their supporters are not fussed about us winning a flag at all as long as it is not in the same year that they win one if that makes sense. I heard Vossy has the boys training on Xmas day and Boxing Day because Brett Kirk is a hippy.
14. Geelong - they have just been too good the last 7 or 8 years for us to even matter to them. We have been so much of a rabble compared to this club their supporters don't even know who we are and when Chris Scott mentions us no one understands what he is saying because he has a lisp.
15. Port Adelaide - not to fussed about us or anyone for that matter. Most Port supporters deep down really know that they won't have a club to support in 2-3 years so they don't give a toss.
16. Gold Coast Suns - Queenslanders can't even follow the most basic of road rules like how to merge without slowing down to 70 ks an hour on a fuuikimg 110k an hour motorway or how to navigate round abouts. How are they going to be smart enough to read a footy almanac to find out we haven't won a flag in 33 years . They are too busy in the Gold Coast sunning their balls on the beach or holding up convenience stores .
17. GWS Giants - Kevin Sheedy - Leon Cameron - Craig Lambert - GWS supporters really support Richmond , they just don't know it .

Completed guys " Merry Xmas "

He made a bet I think about posting on BF based on Hawthorn winning such was his confidence they had it in the bag.
Another club supporters that wouldn't be able to handle Richmond winning despite having very little supporters is North Melbourne, especially if they don't get one with the group they have ATM. They are the most one eyed biased group of supporters on BF and are convinced they are way more advanced then every other club around the same stage of development they are.
Norf BF crew are almost a cult. Weird bunch. I think it's because they don't have their own board like PRE that attracts that sort of closed minded poster.

Is 12 people big enough to be considered a cult?
