I feel this thread needed to be made. We have a thread on shapes, fish and chips, probably other inferior foods, but nothing on toast! It is damaging to the human race that there isn't a place where we are able to discuss the king of all foods. Im sitting here, eating my toast, wondering why this hasn't happened. Shame on you all.

The variations are endless. How well cooked do you like your toast? What spreads to you put on it? Do you cut it up, or leave it as a whole piece? Those questions and more can be answered right here.

Personally, I like my toast cooked very well, close to being burnt. 2 pieces every time, both cut diagonally into triangles. This allows for easier consumption.
One piece has vegemite, and the other has crunchy peanut butter (have had to change brands, since Dick Smith peanut butter had it's whole peanut crop(?) wiped out by the floods in Queensland. Was shattered).

I feel there is no rival to this food. Please, share your loving experiences with toast in here :thumbsu:

Might be an Americanism but peanut and jam works incredibly well on toast. How sad I am that the last of my plum jam is finished and we're moving homes in a month. :(

A slice of Kraft cheese sandwiched b/w 2 pieces of toasted bread, chucked in the microwave for 20sec with jam on top = bliss.

When the JW tuna is $1 at Coles I'll pick up a tonne and dang that shit on some toast. Goes pretty well. :thumbsu:
Toasted sangas deserve a whole thread of their own. Nothing better.

Vegemite on toast is the shit. Only way I can eat vegemite, not a fan of it on sandwiches.

Honey/Jam on toast is pretty good too, can't stand peanut butter or marmalade.

Melted cheese on toast with a bit of bbq sauce makes for a good snack.

I prefer lightly cooked, topped with Kraft smooth peanut butter.

Cut/not cut depending on mood.

The aim is to have it warm enough so the peanut butter melts.

Toast:thumbsu: When I moved out of home I forgot to buy a toaster, then I forgot about toast all together for a year.

One day eating toast at a mates place it hit me like a road train to the face that I didnt have a toaster. I bought one that day and a hole in my life has been filled.

Toast has to be well cooked but not burnt, with crunchy peanut butter and honey together on top!

Golden brown toast with margarine and scrapes of vegemite is perfect. I often have one piece of toast with margarine and vegemite and another with margarine and a just cooked egg. Use the vegemite toast to mop up the egg yolk. It's amazing.

Another great variation is golden brown toast, peanut butter, slices of banana with honey drizzled over the top. Living on campus in a college that provided three meals a day meant you became pretty imaginative with toast spreads as the meals were either inedible or never enough to fill you up.

Toast with green pickles = manna of the gods.

Not sure in genius or insanity ... will have to try.

Toasted ham cheese tomato with a grind of pepper for me.

Toast with Vegemite, baked beans and a slice of cheese on top. Bang it in the oven for a bit to let the cheese melt. Heavenly.

When I cbf doing that, breakfast is one slice Vegemite, one slice crunchy PB. Butter on the Vegemite slice, NOT on the PB slice. Bowl of cereal, black super-strong (like, three tablespoons, basically a mug of espresso strength) instant coffee and an OJ completes the meal. Take a bite/sip of each item in a particular order (I can't remember what, it's just automatic now) and the flavours complement and cut across each other, so no flavour dominates. Delicious.

oh yes, toasted sandwiches in a press are god like.

in a toaster, i like mine lightly done, just not long after starting to turn brown. favourite topping has to be nutella + cheese on it.

Toast well done, thats why its called toast and not warm bread. Beats me why people have it very lightly browned and still soft.

Love liverwurst on toast, lashings of it.

Or Kraft cream cheese.

Or marg and vegemite. Vegemite on crumpets is also the go.

Vegemite and cheese grilled: mother milk.

Every morning without fail: one piece peanut butter one piece vegemite.

Ham, cheese tomato: awesome.

I know it's slightly off topic but I'm a big fan of muffins and crumpets too.

Plain english muffins I usually put vegemite on, cheese and bacon muffins and fruit and spice muffins I just put butter on. I stayed over at a mate's place one time and he was cooking some muffins for breakfast and asked me what I wanted on mine and assuming they were just plain muffins I said vegemite. The w***er didn't tell me they were fruit and spice muffins though but still put f***ing vegemite on mine and butter on his. I had to throw them in the bin.

Crumpets go great with either honey or vegemite.
