TBD, I agree that is the standard for regular threads but I must say I always thought the vent thread was for people (usually not me) who just wanted to get something off their chest and didn't necessarily have to be for the purpose of eliciting a response or making an argument. Maybe I'm wrong about that in which case I stand corrected.

When you look at our home ground situation, TV exposure, pre-season venue situation, how Gold Coast are looked after by the League:

If this was the USA and you privately owned the Lions, would you call Tasmania and Perth to ask for an offer to relocate the club?

I hear what you are saying, but it's never going to happen. The Suns and Giants exist purely because of the TV Deal which guarantees one live game and one TV game into everyone of the major markets in the country and specifically up the Eastern Seaboard each and every weekend.

If we did hypothetically relocate to one of those destinations, I would expect you would see a massive drop off in memebership / support and you would realistically be starting again with a carcass and that's it. That would be the end for me.

I know we are never going to relocate, the point I am trying to make is I think if this was the USA where all the Franchise's have private owners, with what the League and state current offer us as a club, if I was an owner of the Lions Franchise I would be at least making a phone call to a few cities about the profitability of relocating.

The venting should continue to be at the previous administration who were derelict in their duties as directors and administrators to protect the assets of the club. As a result we went from the penthouse to the shithouse in record time. Now we beg for handouts from Vlad and City Hall. When we cite our plight to Vlad re competition from the Suns, he is rightly able to throw it straight back in our face and say that we pissed our the clubs financial sustainability up against the GFC wall.

It's a vicious cycle but one the club has to wear for a long time.

Fully agree western royboy, and I think that's where I sit. I just feel with our off field situation I can't see us competing at any level for at least 5 years, it doesn't matter who the coach is.

Because after heavy investigation and research the AFL decided that the teams ranked 15 and 16 on the membership ladder needed a new club within driving distance of them

It seems to have passed unnoticed that port Adelaide were down 6 0r 7 goals at 1/4 time but nearly got up and won.We seem to give up too damn easily and be happy that we kept with the other team for 3 quarters.It reminds me of nothing more than supporting Fitzroy in the mid 60s.If we were level for a few parts of the game that was encouraging.it is in reality nothing more than accepting mediocrity.No idea how to fix it unfortunately.If not fixed however its a slow death spiral.

Mids need to lift. Lack of intensity, aggression and carry through. Would be genuinely interesting to see how the side would fare without Brown for a few wks
