Market value is probably around the second round mark but we wouldn't let him go for that.
Given where we're placed I doubt we'd give our second round pick honestly.

There would be no sense in us moving him for a second rounder, let alone less than that. We've finally developed a nice ruck partnership, of which he spends the most time playing in the ruck, and is just about heading into his prime after five years development. If he decides to leave (I've yet to see or hear anything suggesting he might, FWIW) we won't get exactly what we want, but there would still be a reasonable trade done. A third rounder ain't gonna cut it for a 24 year old ruck that is already AFL standard.

How do people Marchbank, Steele and Tomlinson. All separately and/or packaged together in some way. ie Marchbank and Steele?

I'd love Tomlinson, would give up pick 19 for him atleast but would seriously consider a package deal also.

Just posted that on your clubs board then.

Marchbank & Steele both leaving at years end, I'd take Saints or Dons first this year for those 2.

Pick 2 for Marchbank (who we don't need) and Steele? Not gonna happen

Mathew Lobbe?

Wish we took the bulldogs trade last year, or taken pick 10 and one of there rucks atm and traded back a pick to even it out. We needed a back up as ryder at the time had the WADA/ASADA stuff. I felt whilst i wanted to keep lobbe if the trade was done earlier we could have got a back up ruck and used pick 10 to gain an extra midfielder or 2nd forward.

How do other clubs rate longer/hickey? Probably trade one out at the end of the year and wondering what their market value is.

Even "just ok" rucks can go for late second rounders so I'd imagine you'd get something in the 20s, maybe even late teens for Hickey. I'd imagine Saints would be more interested in keeping Hickey, though.

Market value of rucks is so incredibly tough to predict as they often go for more than many fans suggest they should. Shaun Hampson went for pick 28 despite most realising that he was pretty ordinary. Hickey (plus an assortment of later picks) originally went for pick 13 and some later upgrades and that was immediately criticised. We were apparently willing to pay pick 11 for Lobbe last year and that looks to be a massive bullet dodged. More than in any other position, ruck "value" comes down to what a team is prepared to pay.

Hickey has played some solid footy this year and I imagine there would be a few teams interested. I'd hazard a guess to say a team would be prepared to offer a pick somewhere in the 15-25 sort of range.

My concern with Longer is whether hitout specialists are quickly becoming extinct. He offers little to nothing around the ground and that for me is a significant problem in modern football. I personally wouldn't pay a high price at all for him but others may disagree.

Our second round pick looks like itll end up in the 30s so whether that's too large a gap for you guys I'm not sure. It probably is. North would be reluctant to part with wood given that drew is on the verge of retirement, so it'll be a case of who wants it more. We'll have to see how much game time wood gets and whether he's satisfied to continue being a 20-25 player at north or a best 22 elsewhere.
Is mason out of contract at the end of the year. Or contracted beyond 2016?.cheers

Lots of discussion about what Richmond should do going forward on our board. One strategy, which I prescribe to, is to go heavy in the draft and trade for picks or possible opposition players some of our own.

Would your club be interested in any of the following and what do you see as a fair deal ?

Brett Deledio ( Obviously a good player, but at 29 would suit only a team that is looking for success in the next 3 or so years)

Shane Edwards - Age 27

David Astbury - Age 25 -

Ben Griffiths - Age 24

Reece Conca - Age 24

Bachar Houli - Just turned 28

Ty Vickery - Age 26

Brandon Ellis - Age 23

I'm asking this because it would be interesting to see how other club see what the value in these players. Also, any other players not mentioned can be discussed too.

None of them appeal. Deledio is only quality player amongst that lot but he is nearing the end.
Deledio to GWS is your best bet of getting some decent for him. They could probably let go a Whitfield type for him and lose little sleep and have Deledio for a couple of years whilst they are intending to win premierships. They can do with one or two more experienced types to assist their younger brigade of stars.

Rance to Dogs is another one that might work for you,

I'd take the risk and give up a first for Deledio. Feel like out of all the teams after him, staying in Victoria to play for the dogs would surely be one of the teams he would be most interested in joining.

With a young gun midfield he wouldn't have to do any of the heavy lifting, just put him on a flank and rotate him through for 30% of the game through the middle.

Ablett would be the player I would go for first, but his contact and the fact he's the Suns captain, I doubt they would give him up. Even for two first rounders.

I'll give you Marchbank, Steele and Geelong's first round pick for Rance as long as you also pay half of his contract.

Yeah, trading out a guy we just re-signed less than a month ago makes sense...
