On the topic of milk I don't understand people who make a big deal about low fat vs full fat milk. If you prefer the taste of Hi-Lo or skim for some reason fine but how much milk are people drinking that they think the calories they are saving will make a huge difference?

A regular coffee with full fat milk vs low fat vs skim is about 600 vs 500 vs 350 kJ.

Craven Morehead Shell edgie

Went to Coles to buy some stuff and came across some full-cream, unhomogenised, pasteurised milk by Margaret River Organic Creameries. Could be the real deal, took it home but haven't tried it yet.

P.S I have spent $8.65 on 3.5L of milk today. I live alone, it will probably spoil. Any easy recipes that call for at least 2L of milk?

Make up a 2 litre bowl of custard.

I used to hate custard- but am a convert now.

Here's pastisio receipe for those playing at home:

step 1:
oil- about 5 -6 large tblespoons - Olive oil if you have it otherwise vegetable oil
1.5 large onion or 2 medium onions
700 grams approx lean minced meat - beef
4 cloves garlic (optional)
1 pinch cinnamon
tomatoe paste about 4 - 5 large tblsp More if you like.

brown chopped up onion/s and chopped garlic in oil - (2- 3 mins) low to med flame
add meat and brown (another 3 mins or so)
add salt pepper and half tspn cinnamon
add tomatoe paste stir thru minced meat
add enuff water to just cover minced meat and let cook slowly about 45 mins to one hr -until water has turned into sauce (not runny)
stir every so often. YOU CAN ALSO ADD A COUPLE OF BAYLEAVES (OPTIONAL) WHILE BOLOGNESE IS COOKING. ADDS A LITTLE EXTRA SPICE TO IT.

step 2:
boil penne pasta (1 pkt) in a large saucepan add a little salt
for approx 15 mins - drain

step 3: Bechamel sauce
in another saucepan add 4-5 cups physical milk, 4 large -heaped tablespoons s/r flour or plain, salt pepper, and 3 - 4 large tablespoons butter or marg.
stir continuously over low to medium flame NOT HIGH FLAME IT WILL BURN (with wooden spoon)until it starts to bubble and thicken. About 10 mins
take saucepan off flame then
beat 3 eggs in a bowl and add HALF the beaten eggs to bechamel sauce - stir egg in until it blends in and keep the rest of the beaten egg in bowl.

get your tray and add the first layer of pasta on the bottom of tray.
put the bolognese sauce on top of the pasta and if you want sprinkle some parmesan cheese on top of the sauce.
put next layer of pasta on top of bolognese.
add the bechamel sauce on top of the pasta - smooth over all of pasta.
add the rest of the beaten egg on top and spread with a knife evenly over the bechamel.
put dolops of butter on top. about 5-6 tspn dolops.

put in oven at about 160 to 180 deg.

ready when golden brown approx 1 hr or so.

Yeah was thinking a cake or something.
Not obsessed with milk just enjoy the taste.

Not sure what it's called, but when I was a kid used to eat bread in milk with a bit of either coffee, or nesqik. I assume it's because we were poor but it was a very cheap and pretty delicious way to fill us up. Anyway I've loved the taste and smell of warm milk forever, especially with the cream on top.

I don't have an esky but this sounds pretty interesting, will look into it.

Isn't custard made with a fu** load of milk?

I like custard but having a shitload of custard has the same problem of having excess milk. At least a cake or something I ccan share with people.
