I dont understand how some people think AC/DC is a good band. Completely overrated. Perhaps overrated here due to them being (arguably) Australian.
I spent the last few weeks listing to their Bon Scott era. I grew up listening to AC/DC after he died, with Brian Johnson(?), and missed most of their early music. And I based my previous post on post-1980 AC/DC. Their early stuff was brilliant. Bon Scott was an amazing singer and front man. He'd have rivalled Freddie Mercury had he not died young. He had energy I had rarely seen in men and women in his position. Starting with Back in Black, their Johnson era music is bland and repetitive. But their Scott era music was brilliant. I stand corrected!

The bloke probably pulls that crap with everyone and walks away thinking everyone else is a sucker for paying full price.

Pity his friends and family.
I have a really messed up begrudging respect for people who could do shit like that.

Not in the sense I wish I could but imagine living your life with absolutely no sense of other people. Just blissfully unaware of your impact on the world.

He's probably spending his Xmas eve in hospital after being beaten up, it's probably not worth it just to save a few bucks for mine.

So signed paperwork today for me to end my job.. Where I have lived and worked for the last 5 years.. rent free, bill free.

Under the French system, I get to spend the next 12 months with full pay, while my boss also paid me out another 50% yearly wage on top of that.. But wait, there's more.

2021 I don't have to work a single day and I will end up being paid 33% more than I did in 2020/19/18 ect.

My wife tells me its a great solution, and sure I'm surfing croissants for the next year, but I worry about the year after... And then I think, things always work out.

Think I'm gonna get into building and renovation.

I prefer Scott but what Johnson did, an almost impossible task taking over from such a talent, and then continuing to make the band such a success is simply amazing.

Is this some long service recognition style set up or govt enforced payout?

That's the thing. I'd love to bludge but I will have heaps of work (cash). Plus my boss isn't replacing me here and no-one else knows what to do. My wife will still work here and she may have to get a company to come and spend a week working out a problem I know how to fix in half a day.. There's so much work here I do that the Boss never sees.. He's either going to pay me even more to do it as an outside contractor, or pay an outside contractor even more to do a job I already knew how to do.. And faster, cheaper than them.

Things I dont understand.

A bit of both. French system is really set up in a way that it's hard to sack someone on a longterm contract. There's 2 styles of basic contracts. Short/Long. I've been long for 5 years and if you don't have a real reason to get rid of someone(my boss is doing it using Covid as the reason... i.e. financial problems).. it works for both of us, and I wanted to leave already.

He's also been generous in giving more than he needed and a pretty hefty 'gift'.

Wat. I thought you said you quit. I dont understand either..
No, you never quit in France on a CDI contract. It's very expensive for a company to sack someone. That's why you get the yellow vests protests. They want more for less.

Hey don't think Im some lazy French worker grafting the system. It's wednesday 23.04 and I've already worked 32 hours since monday morning... I will do another 12-14 hours Xmas eve, the same Xmas Day, and the same Boxing Day... My next day off is probably around the 11th of Janurary.
