does everyone remember that great allies game?

nah didnt think so
Excited Great Job GIF by Sesame Street

Yes I remember the Allies

I was so brainwashed by anti Essendon hate as a teenager that when I went to my 2nd (and last) State of Origin game in 1998 me and my mate got into trouble sitting in the Ponsford Stand and bagging Matthew Lloyd especially, Mark Mecuri and Scott Lucas.

I regret nothing. That was easily the worst most talentless team to ever represent Victoria in any SOO game BTW

(Leigh Colbert, Justin Peckett, Andrew Thompson, Brad Sholl, Andrew Thompson SMH all scrubbers)
Oi. Brad Sholl and Colbert were ok

If they want to bring back SOO they should on a rotating basis do an Indigenous All Stars v Vic, SA, WA, NSW/QLD during the pre-season. Players still get to represent their state but it is also more of an exhibition and less worry for clubs.

Colbert was good at Geelong, turned into a pumpkin when he went to North.

I had a Geelong girlfriend at the time who was devested by Colbert's defection, but boy oh boy, you got a couple of handy future te premiership players in that trade (Cam Mooney and esp club legend Corey Enright)

Still bitter about the Michael Mansfield trade as well to Carlton (another Vic 98 SOO) played where you Paul Chapman with the pick we gave you.

That 1999 draft by Geelong was truly astonishing, you also got Joel Corey and Cameron Ling with your picks.

I would say that was the best National Draft Haul by one club ever (Hawks may argue 2004 with Buddy, Roughie and Lewis)

Amazing how one National draft could turn around the fortune's of one of the founding VFL's underperforming clubs into a modern day powerhouse.

Still waiting for Carlton's turn (2015 was a false dawn sadly)

I was devastated too by Colbert, I loved him

I never booed him tho. AFL is a business and players can move on if they want

Older players didn't want him captan.

He was no Joel Selwood.

More of a Figjam.

Lot of interesting shenanigans about Geelong in that time period

Always wondered if that rumour about Bomber Thompson cutting Kent Kinglsey's lunch was true or just an urban legend?

Not sure .

Bomber went though a rough patch.

I'm trying to just picture waking up in my apartment to some students I work with at school, in my apartment cooking me breakfast and playing on the piano.

No I ****ing cannot because it is absolutely absurd.
Is that because you don't have a piano?

They seem to have organised it with his family. They didn't just break in and start scrambling his eggs.
