Part 6 is over there:

One time I was in a GSM at my old school and one of the teachers basically had a real go at an AP. The Principal had to step in..

I was regretting not taking popcorn to that meeting..

My son's principal is leaving at the end of term, we (the school dads) had beers down the RSL with him last week as a farewell. He's a good bloke and the teachers like him too, apparently he's happy to always play the bad cop with kids and parents alike, I imagine that's what you'd want as a teacher.

Oh yeah my old Principal could definitely yell and scream and be intimidating.

I never actually witnessed it tho- I wish I had, would have been so awesome.

My last principal tried to seem authoritarian but his rhotacism meant you couldn't take him seriously.

His predecessor?
Now there's a guy who has a rather commanding voice even if he was at the stage of his life where his S' whistled.

I think of him as the "father of my school."

Chatty guy.
Liked to play a practical joke. (Go to give him a high five but he takes his arm away.)
Cats fan.

Only got caught once by him going out of bounds.

Yeah DFO is pretty good. I go there for Portmans, Guess and Swarovski

DFO is convenient as it has a bunch of shops in one place but there always seems to be a lot of stuff that isn't really any cheaper than other shops.

I remember years ago one of my friends worked at an outlet shop that her father in law had and it was cardboard boxes and trestle tables. These days they are more like Westfield mall shops.

Yeah sometimes you can go there and find heaps of stuff on sale, other days there is shit all.

Hit and miss.

Hit and miss.

Definitely hit and miss.

I got some shoes from the Adidas shop which is "40% off everything" and the box was $220 marked down to $160 so I was like is it 40% off $220? Or off $160? Coz $160 isn't 60% of $220... ended up being $96 which so cha-ching. Have bought stuff at Myer before where the price has randomly rung up on the till as something different to the tag, or the tag minus a sale %, or any other combination of numbers that makes sense. "That jumper will be $26.70". Sure, I don't need to see your working I'm not a maths teacher.

Retail can be a bit of a mess. Last time I bought a couch it was 15% or something but the ticket price was already reduced a different amount. I asked one guy who said it's one or the other so I was like well why would I choose the higher of two prices? Asked another dude and he just put it into the computer and compounded the discounts. No fox given by that guy.

Yeah it’s good to read the fine print. Some will say off the lowest marked price, they’re the good ones.

I’ve found a lot of their best sales are Fri-Sun which sucked as I usually go mid week. I’ve also been in a store before and when they asked what I wanted they told me those items will be on sale this weekend.

One thing I really don't like with Myer, especially the post Christmas sales is when they have shelving marked as "20% off X", but the items don't have a price on it nor do they have price check things - I don't really want to go up to the register with a number of items asking how much they'll cost when I'm only interested in them at the right price

I’ll often at stores go on their websites whilst in store checking prices of items for that reason.

Do it a lot at supermarkets especially on a Tuesday night when they’ve already pulled off all their sales tags.

Finally got around to doing a homebrew on the weekend, got into it over COVID but lost interest once we opened up, very time consuming. Anyway it cost me $60 and will probably do 2 and a half slabs, good all grain stuff too so is worth it.

I love the apps for the supermarkets, Big W, Kmart etc, even Officeworks where they have a barcode scanner to check the price of items

The stupid Myer's app doesn't have that and it's one of the worse "shopping" apps around as I'm pretty sure you can't even shop via it

I've tried using their website to look up different items and it'll show things as being in stock in Geelong but in reality they don't have any of that item, or something you're looking at isn't showing on the website - especially true for post Xmas sales

Mate had a great set up with taps and a home bar before the wife divorced him and took the lot

The stuff was amazing. Was good popping over for a pint. Bloke was a wiz at it

It's actually very easy once you have the gear, especially if you have kegs, you can just draw the beer into it rather than the messy process of bottling. And you have to wait a few weeks for the beer to carbonate in bottles, with a keg the gas carbonates it so you're good to go straight away.

I do this too. Google is your friend. Works great for stores like JB Hifi where they are constantly changing stuff but have good systems. Do like the self scanner things they have at Kmart, Big W etc. Bit of roulette to see whether something you think is around $20 comes out at $50 or $4.

I have a parka from Myer that was stupidly discounted. Was on a rack with a bunch of stuff with some vaguely worded sign and everything else was $99 ticket price and on sale for $49 and this one thing (same brand, different product) was $249. I assumed someone just put it there because customers are people and people are animals. Turns out it was correct. Dude at the till was shocked that something was 80% off.
