You're more or less constantly battling communications companies of one sort or another though.
Its just a never ending battle. This battle will be taught in schools for years.

pedestrians who step out onto the road before bothering to check if theres cars coming, usually resulting in me having to brake and them having to suddenly halt

An extension of this. Every night on my way home a set of traffic lights allows about 4-5 cars out at a time out of my car park if everyone acted accordingly. Every night there's a handful of pedestrians that are looking at the red man on the crossing, but decide to walk across in front of cars trying to exit anyway. This usually stuffs up about 3 cars exiting.

Whilst I'm a fairly cautious driver, I'm having a new found respect for the tradies who seem to exit this carpark at will and have no concern for those who want to step out against the red man in front of them.

Im all ears (eyes?) if you want to tell it. :p
I think it'll be quite therapeutic for me to type it out :p

Started out with me subscribing to the $10 per week Herald Sun digital pass + Foxtel Play with Footy package deal. I quite like having the Herald Sun stuff because it gives me live supercoach scores etc. but it was 95% for the Foxtel access.

- Go to watch the Footy Play Plus channel - audio is working but no picture at all.
- Call Foxtel that night (a Sunday) and wait 15 minutes in queue to speak to an operator. Am told to check the plugs are plugged in (since every other channel works I found this a pretty stupid suggestion), do a speed test (internet speed is good) and to reboot the router - none of these work or lead to any solutions. He tells me 'do you know you can watch AFL games on replay on your laptop?', thanks champ. He promises I'll get contacted within 48 hours.
- I hear nothing for 48 hours.
- On the Thursday I call back and wait another 15 minutes in queue. I speak to an operator who wants me to check the plugs are plugged in, do a speed test and reboot the router. I say I've done this already, but what the hell, I'll do it again - doesn't fix anything. He says I'll get contacted within 48 hours.
- I get an email pretty much exactly 48 hours later - with the brilliant advice of checking the plugs are plugged in, doing a speed test and rebooting the router.
- I call back that night, wait about 20 minutes in queue, then speak to an operator, explain that I have been given the same advice several times and want to speak to a manager. She puts me on hold for 25 minutes and then my call gets disconnected.
- I call back again, this time about 15 minutes in queue before I'm put through to the complaints team, tell her my story and she takes down my details, says she'll call back with a technician so that I'm not sitting on hold.
- She calls back 20 minutes later, says she's got a tech on the phone who 'sounds like he knows what he's talking about'. I speak with him, she hangs up, and this guy asks me to do a speed test. I say I'm not doing another one, explain that I've done it several times, and that I'm also not rebooting my router or checking the plugs are in. He says he can't help me until I do the speed test for him - do it, it's fine. He says he doesn't know what's wrong but he'll get someone to contact me within 48 hours. I said I'm not waiting 48 hours and want to cancel, I ask him to put me back to the complaints woman and he tells me that he doesn't know how. I ask him to figure it out - he puts me on hold for 10 minutes and then comes back to tell me that the complaints team finished 5 minutes ago at 7pm. I ask him to get someone to call me tomorrow, he says their wait time is 48 hours but that he can help me with my complaint, I tell him that my complaint is that I can't handle this anymore and want to cancel, he says he can't help me with that. He says he'll get someone to contact me tomorrow.
- I get an email about 18 hours later telling me to check the plugs are plugged in, reboot the router and do a speed test.
- I call back that night and ask how I can cancel my subscription, knowing that I pay the Herald Sun but Foxtel is part of the deal. They say as far as they're concerned I'm a $0 customer and they have no interest in my Herald Sun contract. I say I understand that they can't touch my account with the Herald Sun, but how can they help me to get out of this contract I'm in, as I signed up for a contract that Foxtel are not fulfilling. The woman says they are fulfilling my contract by giving me Foxtel Play, we argue back and forth about whether 1 channel not working means they are or are not fulfilling my contract. She says they won't provide any documentation that they aren't providing me with that channel, because it is not their job.
- I hang up before I break my no swearing rule.

I called the Herald Sun the next day and they reduced my contract to $5 a week and cancelled my Foxtel Play, but it still means I'm paying $5 a week for something I never would have signed up to on its own. Arghhhhh :mad::mad:

That is incredible.

I just tell them at the very beginning of the call "I work with computers for a living, I know what I am doing, I've tried all the dumb user bullshit you're going to suggest already get to the real problem". Straight away it gets my point across that I am angry enough already and they are in for a shit fight. Seems they thrive off it though.

My dad was a bit annoyed with me that I didn't get him involved during the process, I'm sure he could have resolved it better/quicker than me, but I wanted to do it on my own.

I now refuse to give Foxtel my money and will just go around to my parent's house if I want to watch a Foxtel game :(

Yep, I am begging for any legal sports service to come out so I can ditch them. If I could get my AFL/Soccer/UFC/Basketball/etc all in one legal package I'd be gone in an instant. :(

i've learnt a lesson with foxtel - writing a very sternly worded facebook post gets more action than 4 phone calls ever did

source - the w***ers cancelled (yes - cancelled) my foxtel account after I rang to change my package options. rang 4 times and was told someone would need to visit my house to reactivate my account, made a complaint on their facebook page, issue fixed and service restored within 15 mins

+1 facebook or twitter rant is the way to go.

I originally joined up facebook to have a go at a company (not foxtel, ive been lucky with them!), problem fixed asap.
Now I only use facebook for tinder/bumble purposes. But it's there if I need to get something fixed.

Yes, this. My mum (in Perth) watches the footy on her iPad via my brother's Foxtel account (he's in Melbourne).

I rang up Foxtel pissed about 18 months ago to order Sharknado. Because I'm a winner. I ended up getting another 15 ****ing channels or something that I still have and never watch. I really don't want to call them back.
