this morning around 6am i moved my car out of my garage (as i have done all week) so the tradies doing some work can park their car/have a workspace under cover. so my car has been parked down the street.
anyway, around 8am my neighbour two doors down came over to tell me she had side swiped my car. poor thing, she was so sad, she would be late 60s. Anyway, she logged a claim with her insurance and said its all her fault, it will all be taken care of - which im sure it will, albeit i will have some annoyance not having my car for a few days down the track - i think i do get a hire car through my insurance now i think about it

That sux.

Mrs R before we got together had a Datsun 120Y mint condition with vinyl roof.

Someone smashed into it was it was parked.
And write it off

the agreed value insured amount is 14k. the damage done is in a really horrible spot. its not the bumper (take off and replace in worse case) nor the back door (take off and replace) - but the panel between which also has the fuel cap, which is welded to the car. so its an old fashioned panel beating job.
i have no idea what the cut off is damage v insured value for a write off - 70%+?? anyone know?
the damage could be upwards of 5k, who knows these days - inflation init

1. The panel beaters will over charge
2. The insurance company will **** you over.

At least you got insurance.

I lend my car to my ex dumb move life lesson 101.

I get a call early the next morning.
The car a write off but at least I'm ok.
Grrrrr.
Every single panel inc the roof smashed in.
WTAF .

Then I buy the same car .
Then someone T bones me and its written off .

You just got to laugh.

Guy I know drove his mates car cost around 30k. Didn't have insurance and crashed it. He took responsibility and paid the money back over time. Good bloke. Harsh lesson.

I think his insurance expired by a day or two hence why he leant it out.
