If I only have to cut one slice of bread from a loaf, sometimes I'll take the knife out of the knife block, cut the bread, wipe the knife with a tea towel and put the knife back in the knife block.

I do this 100% of the time, will only wash knife if I'm cutting through something that leaves evidence on the blade.
