The umpires were absolute crap this game. The call they made against Richo in the last few minutes was disgraceful. How can they pay 50 metres for that, when earlier in the game McPhee kicks it away after a Richmond free kick and gets nothing called. The umpires are a disgrace, way too inconsistent and the 50/50 calls all went Essendons way. Ridiculous...

Regardless of that final decision with Richo - I was watching the game with a few people and we all said the same thing at quarter time...... The umpiring and in the back rule is a joke and both teams should be pissed off.... we as spectators sure were.

funny, i remarked to the mrs before the game that this was the first game i have watched on tv for about a month. (saw the crows game at aami, and didnt bother to go the week before - as for the geelong game well i taped it and once i saw the score didnt bother with the pain of that one). i used to watch at least 3 games a week. now i only watch my team play because the game has gotten that uninteresting because of over umpiring and crap footy. the question i ask myself is, after a game like that - why do i bother to watch even that one game a week? i am so furious, who needs that kind of crap in thier life?

Yes, but on the thread topic...great for the guys as something like this should create a massive bond within the group. Its US Vs THEM. 'THEM' being 15 other teams and the whole frickin' umpires association.

The line in the sand has been drawn and it is an 'incident' like just what occured tonight that could set the ball rolling for this group to dig deep and start it right now. That won't be a string of wins starting next week, but a group decision that this is where it starts.

To be fair, the 50 was totally legit ("I didn't hear the whistle" is not an excuse and shouldn't be, for obvious reasons), or at least it would have been totally legit if the free kick wasn't absolute bullshit in the first place, which of course it was.

To be fair, the 50 was totally legit ("I didn't hear the whistle" is not an excuse and shouldn't be, for obvious reasons), or at least it would have been totally legit if the free kick wasn't absolute bullshit in the first place, which of course it was.

if thats the case then why didnt they pay 50 when mcphee (i think it was) kicked the ball 30 away from our goal when richo had clearly been paid a free? this is the problem, there is too much inconsistency with the umpiring of games. that is what we are most furious about. what is good for the goose (bombers/anyone else we are playing) is NOT good for the gander (tigers). this is actually the only consistent thing about the umpires is that they consistently stuff up when they are umpiring richmond matches and they consistently stuff up in ways that adversely effect our game. i am not saying we would have won some of our matches or anything, i am not usually one to blast the umpires only if they do deserve it (actually thought the umpiring last week against the crows was ok) but imho i believe we would have won tonight if not for their blatant stuff ups.

and the 50m that Krakouer should have gotten for a late hit, which saw him leave the ground.

I don't know exactly what the rule states, and haven't watched the replay, but I reckon Richo had already dropped the ball when the whistle went so I DON'T think the 50 was legit. It was just a complete debacle to make sure the umpires get there little bit extra on the side.

I don't believe it was the rules committee that took the decision not to award a 50m against McPhee but to do so against Richo....I believe it was the umpires and one farc knuckle in particular.
