Thanks Molly.

I just found that info out from a friend of mine.

Would not be fair at all if AFL Members were permitted to buy more than one guest pass per Membership.

I was going by what talkback callers were saying this morning. They said that members were buying 4 guest passes, they must have been wrong amongst all the angst.

When people are angry and upset it only takes one saying it matter of factly and it'll be taken as gospel. Personally, despite all of the frustration I believe the AFL has done a reasonable job with this.

Are there things that could be done better? Sure. Nothing's perfect. The computer issues are going to happen when there is such tremendous demand placed on the system. However, the alternatives aren't as realistic as what you may believe. I'd heard suggestions about doing what cinemas and the art centre do - pick where you want to sit. Can you imagine thousands upon thousands of people trying to book tickets at the same time? You'd have to be lucky if the seat that you wanted was available to you before someone nabbed it.

The only real alternative would be to go towards a system similar to professional leagues where there is one team in that city (aka the American season ticket holder system). Whereby, the home team (in this year's first round that'd be Collingwood, Geelong, Carlton and St. Kilda) members have until a certain time to purchase their ticket (the seat they've had during the home and away season) and if it is not purchased in that time period then it goes to the "general admission" seating (with opposition members and non-seat allocated members getting first crack). Of course, the non-home teams are going to moan about how unfair it is but it's really the only alternative. In the current system it also disadvantages the members of the team who don't pay the excess for the same seat but they have that option to ensure their seat.

Anyone had any problems with ticketting?

I ordered two tickets, paid for two and only got 1 emailed out to me.... wtf?

Managed to get my tickets pretty easily yesterday morning.
I'm just hoping Ticketek hasn't stuffed up and seated me with Essendon supporters.

Whereabouts you sitting, HBF? Unfortunately I know a number of Essendon fans who are attending.

SO absolutely ropable with the AFL. Have paid $480 for my AFL membership, been to every melbourne game this year (including a few interstate ones) and yet i missed out on a seat when I got through at 9:30!!!!! Why? Because the piece of shit that is the AFL allows other AFL members to purchase general admission tickets. So, someone who may not have even been to one game this year could very well be sitting in my seat come sunday afternoon. Thought the whole point of having an AFL membership was to be guaranteed a seat come finals time. Yet all of my friends who are club members all have seats and yet I miss out. I would be desperate enough to buy a general admission ticket but I have to purchase 5 of them and simply can't afford, nor warrant, spending $200+ on tickets i should have paid only $70 for.

**** you, AFL, you bunch of money hungry dogs! Try honouring your loyal members from time-to-time instead of thinking about the money!

Please excuse my language, but i am just so angry right now!

N11, row f, good enough.
Got on via the mobile site at 9 this morning for the pre-sale, couldn't have been easier. :thumbsu:

I know this request is a long shot but Il put it out there anyway.
I've got 3 tickets in M56 towards the back and would really like to sit on level 2. I'm looking to trade the tickets and on top of that, am willing to fully reimburse on one ticket for the inconvenience.

I'm right there with u mate

exactly what happened to me - all I could get was 2 standing room tickets and no guess pass standing room ticket for my girlfriend which cost me $30

I have stood before at the MCG on the odd occassion and you can't see the scoreboard nor about 1/3 of the ground so I ended up paying another $180 for 3 X general admission tickets

IT JUST SUCKS

I think I was quite possibly the 1st AFL member to get through today.

I Got 2 tickets on level 2, Right on the wing, Row A, Seats 1 and 2. :thumbsu:

It had only just ticked over to 9am when I got on..

We better friggen win or im gonna have the best seats to witness my worst nighmare..

I don't think you could be more in the heart of the essendon section than that seat.

EDIT: assuming that because they have the punt road end their members get the M1-M15 area

Jeez, and I'm going with my Essendon supporting younger brother :o

This will be interesting.

Is anyone else sitting near M6?

I have been placed right next to the Essendon cheer squad & I booked 4 tickets at 10:00am in the morning.

Apparently ticketek made a mistake but aren't willing to change my seats because they don't want to break there no refund/cancellation policy.

I rang the Carlton Membership department & they are going to battle for me, hopefully they can get something sorted out.

I can't believe they made me Pay $75 a ticket and put me with Essendon cheer squad!:thumbsd::mad:

I'm M6 too. .. I'm not too fussed about it, last Bombers game I sat with amongst Bombers supporters including several either side of me, was fine. .. in fact they were positively friendly about it. ..

Besides, I'm likely taking a Bombers supporter with me, so it will be good for them either way. ..

What does the "-S" on the end of your ticket order mean?

Ie - Q32 GG-S

Cheers!

G'day Clay!
I spoke with the CFC Membership department today and they followed up with Ticketek to make sure the section we're in isn't a dominant surrounding of Essendon supporters.

Turns out its gonna be pretty much all Carlton supporters! so yay for us lol

We will be near there cheer squad but be in a big crowd of CFC followers

Going with a few mates, can't wait to see us smash em!

Section N11. Not sure exactly where but flying over on saturday, and won't sleep that night. Please do not dissapoint guys, this cost me alot :o

Im on level 2 section n8... about 5 bays away from the essndon cheer squad... is this likely to be an essendon dominated area ? Not that I care too much... uless we loose of course, if we win I will be voicing my support load and proud no matter how many essendon supporters im surrounded by lol
