Time for a cleanout ?

I would hold onto as much of youth as possible.
In my opinion I think it will be enough to get rid of just hill, Hudson, hall and maybe Gilbee to rookie list.
I doubt with hargraves ankle still not getting right for games that he'll stay on either.
I think also Djekurra will be dropped at seasons end.
I wouldn't get rid of Lake or Cooney as their skills are still required.
Williams is a fair kdp and we have yet to find a replacement.
Stack needs to stay on as a defensive forward. He's a fair player at that role and does work hard.
I think panos may not make it into the side if he doesn't come up with the pace needed for seniors by the end of the year.

Still too early for alot of players to know who and which need to be moved on.

I think the general savaging of Djekerra most unfair. It was the first game this season where he was given any game time. To be fair to him he was often the only forward presenting a target. Hw made some poor decisions but really he was not on his lonesome.

Stack on the other hand has had a good six seven solid games this year. He is showing limited promise but perhaps we need to continue to be patient.

As for the clean out
Hudson and Hall are self evident.
Gilbee is on notice - amazing really, 6 goals one week and then 2 weeks later??
Hargraves put on notice or kept as a depth utility player

As sad as it is, with several younger inside slowish mid fielders coming up - Cross must be looked at.

Gibee is only 30 and should, in all reality have 2 or 3 years left. Why not play him as a permanant forward to give a bit of much needed experience to a very young and inexperienced foward line. A cool head under pressure and confident kicking for goal might be just what the young guns like Grant, Jones, Skinner, Vezz, Dj etc need, and with Gia and Gilbee both there give a litle bit of stabillity.

One of the biggest misperceptions in footy. Go through the respective lists and see how many players you find in their 30s.

Most players are well on their way down by the time they are 29. Obviously some have good staying power, and some are freaks. But generally speaking it is the exception that plays on to 32 (and past it) not the rule.

Seems pretty clear to me that Gilbee is gone. Having said that, I would pick Lake as one who could probably play on for ages, if he gets his act together.

Gilbee is contracted for next year, so he wont be going unless we pay him out (unlikely) or trade him out (slight less unlikely).

I'd like to try Gilbee as the sub much like what Geelong is doing with Milburn. He really only needs a few kicks to impact the game.
