Time to stop the GF parade.

If GWS make the GF it becomes redundant for a GF parade through the streets of Melbourne. One day when two teams from WA or SA or NSW get to the same GF its going to be a joke to have a parade in Melbourne.

Would have thought the combination of the GF parade and the Victorian public holiday is a great opportunity to convert young Victorian fans to being supporters of the interstate teams participating in the Grand Final.

In 2015 I was hoping it was going to be WCE v Freo GF - think it would have been great. All of WA would have moved over for the week:p Anyway WCE have played Sydney Swans in 2 GFs (2005 & 2006) so what's the difference? A lot of people like to travel to the GF no matter who is playing. I know somebody here in the West that goes to every GF and I'm sure there's plenty like him.

Not with the public holiday. I know many of the smaller businesses close for the day as they don't cover their costs with increased wages and less people (their bread and butter who are normally there 5 days a week). They hate the holiday. Keep the parade, get rid of the day off.

Perhaps you could organise a few thousand hotel bookings, some airline flights and a few tickets by next weekend. Best of luck.

What do you think we have to do when one of our teams makes a grand final.

If we had a Port vs Adelaide GF im pretty certain it would be more appropriate to have it here.
Even if ten thousand supporters from SA went to Melb for the GF it still is a VFL relic.

I definitely see your point - but do you think it'd be more relevant if the big dance was at different stadiums and having it in the respective state?
I quite like it. Adds to the atmosphere surrounding Melbourne leading up to the game.

Until the AFL truely becomes a national comp like the NFL is for instance, catering to the Melbourne public will just continue. They can have a parade for the two teams from the VFL comp.
