Just my 5 cents worth but our compensation for losing Tippett should be directly proportional to the salary that he will be getting.

The very fact that he is attracting almost a $1M offers from Sydney indicates that he has value.

Sure some clubs needs are different to others and so hence will place a higher value on a particular player, like Pearce for Freo.

Tippett is definitely worth somewhere between $700k and $1M and so our compensation for losing him should reflect this.

Im hoping that the Crows can engineer a player and a pick.

I will say one thing though IMO we paid a player that has hardly delivered so much money, the likes of McLeod, Roo, and current players in Danger and Tex would feel slightly grieved by what was offered to a player of his caliber.

I'm not so sure that the current situation indicates there was no contract.

It could easily have been subject to agreement on terms allowing both parties to walk away should GC not be able to match either the Crows offer or maybe even another club.

Of course that's not my logic. Reid (probably) will improve, Tippett (probably) will not, which means that, if it came to having one or the other, Tippett might improve our chances of winning the flag next year, but reduce it, relative to what Reid would offer, in subsequent years, which will be many.

So, when it comes to what each of them are worth, Reid still comes up trumps.

Can Reid ruck? There is why KT comes up trumps. With the sub rule as it is and with the vfl looking at making rotations even more restricted, the versatility players such as him provide is critical to giving teams options with their match day selections. That fact alone is more than likely why half the comp is trying to get him and why his value cant be measured with pure counting stats. Its not even close.



I'm only interested in actually hearing WHY Tippett is worth what he supposedly is, from the people who watch him closest. I'm genuinely curious, because I want to know why my club is apparently chasing him so hard. Unfortunately, I'm yet to hear anything new. I still feel he will end up at the GCS, some chance the Lions could trump the GCS perhaps. I guess if he ended up at Sydney or any other non Qld clubs then you know who will have been categorically wrong!
