Jed Lamb, Jesse White, Andrejs Everitt. Those are the players we could offer, so admittedly not much but better than Pick 22 + Grundy.

Wrong. Those are the spuds you want to get rid of, they have very little value in the Tippett deal. Blokes that cant get a regular game in your team are of little value..... hope that's something you are able to process.
How about we swap Brodie Martin for Jetta or Hannebery....the deal pretty much stinks ye???

(we just won a premiership don't you know ;) ),

We Know you did...you didn't get the Dud umpires.

if Adelaide FC are too precious/greedy no deal will be done

So we are being greedy for not grabbing the scraps being thrown to us by Sydney posters......oh please Jesse White your our only hope!

KT will go into the draft and probably end up at one of the fledgling clubs for nothing

"It is better to live one day as a lion than a hundred as a sheep"....a dead guy said that once, i like to think he was envisaging a situation much like the one you pose now.

Swans want KT for sure

The tip-off of that would be cause Sydney just threw a multi-million $ deal at him hatched and planed months in advanced, where i come from....Adelaide, that means your serious about something or your from Whyalla...and we never EVER talk about Whyalla.... Ever... in such flippant terms.

but if the deal falls through the biggest loss will be to the Crows to KT and then swans (only a potential loss BTW) in that order.

In that Order?......Being able to only purchase OAK flavoured milk is the greater loss of them all. This deal pales into insignificance.

If Swans don't get KT they'll have plenty of cash to throw around due to the money freed up

It doesn't matter where Tippet goes....he could live with Santa and the Crows will also have plenty of cash to throw around due to money freed up as well......this is called a 'Victor harbour stand-off'.....we can all win and get ice-creams afterwards..... Possible problems for Santa but this is a 'Victor Harbour Stand-off' not a 'i just won lotto' stand-off. Completely different things.

because of the highly paid senior players who've left in recent years (let alone if Jude Bolton retires)

That and you have a larger Salary Cap than us, cause like that um..would kinda..help out as well.... Also keep Jude out of this! He's one of the good guys. Shame on you. I'm off to bed now I'm glad we had this discussion....i like you. I may add you too my collection i haven't decided as of yet. I'll sleep on it...no promises though.

I blame Iva Bigun and supernova_ from Gold Coast if only they had accepted my most generous offer for them to okay it with their club and give us Pick 2 none of this would now be occurring! :D

Yeah thats right! Iva! Supernova! Lift your game you two! What do you think this is! Get the deal done! Stat! ;):D

Well that was a while to catch up on todays action. Disappointed with the Sydney fans coming in with offers of rejects to get the deal done, that sort of thing had it's day in 2003 but here we are.

Am glad Tippetts gone, think his agent is a sack of shit and here's to the pick and a player we deserve. Can't wait for the next two years were we steal back most of the top 10 draft picks from this year

Translated to: we want something, we think we deserve something, but we don't believe if we want that something that fits a very strong need as identified by our coaches etc, that we should have to pay to get that something.. We're just entitled to it and we will only give up what we don't want at all, to get it..

I wonder if Travis Varcoe could have anything to do with the trade? Fits a need for us with outside speed and guessing would have a good relationship with Sando..
Fairly sure he may be out of contract

If those rumours of us talking to a Geelong player are true and it's not Horlin-Smith, I hope it's this guy. He could be huge for us.

I say do what the Hawks and Doggies did several years ago with the deal known as the "Veale Deal". Don't deal with the Swans, send Tippet to the draft, swap a donkey for the player you guys want from the GC, and GC get Tippet in the pre season draft. GC are happy, you guys are happy and the Swannies miss out!!

GWS have said they do not want Tippet as they have Cameron and Patton - so no need to worry about them guys at pick 1.

Good strategy to have up your sleeve any way!! Good luck, hope you guys get compensated as you's have lost some top KPP over last few years in Bock, Davis, Gunston, now Tippett and you guys are still gong strong, which is the sign of a good club.

I remember the Veale deal. The AFL crawled all over it and gave it a tick.

Personally I like it. Adelaide should definitely keep this up their sleeve as an alternative if Sydney don't play fair ball.

Not if we get a very good deal.

But as Faith has indicated, it doesn't seem we are that way inclined which sucks.
But what do Sydney have to offer? Not much going by their posters. If AFC bend over for Kurt and his manager then more harm than good will come of it. Questions will be asked about our ability to hold on to required players and rightly so. Our history of losing quality to the opposition is becoming extensive so we need to nip this in the bud now and act against these two clowns.

Hasn't been any real mention of Jed Lamb here, isn't he the sort of player that would fit one of your needs for classy outside run?

Onya Jeff, you tell Dimwitrou and his henchmen where to go..about time the Adelaide FC had a voice too!!

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/kennett-strip-swans-of-cap-concessions/story-e6frea6u-1226489895759

FORMER Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett has called on the AFL to revoke Sydney's salary cap concessions.
This follows Adelaide's out-of-contract forward Kurt Tippett choosing the Swans yesterday as his preferred club on a four-year deal believed to be worth up to $4 million.
An angry Kennett described Sydney's salary cap allowance for cost-of-living pressures and player retention - which allows for an extra $900,000 compared with clubs other than Greater Western Sydney and Gold Coast - as an "anachronism" and "20 years behind its time".
And while Kennett was mindful Tippett's potential move to the premier will be a trade, he claimed free agency was driving a bigger wedge between wealthy and struggling clubs.
"Sydney should no longer be treated any differently to the other established clubs," Kennett said. "It (the concession) is well past its use-by date in terms of its original purposes.

"These things are not meant to be endless but it has become ingrained."
Kennett said it was "absurd" that the Swans could make a lucrative play for Tippett, considering they have almost 10 per cent extra in their salary cap to play with each season.
He said the cost of living in Melbourne had risen significantly recently, making it as expensive as Sydney.

Sounds too generous to me and probably not generous enough to crows supporters, so maybe it is a reasonable deal. Let's just say I wouldn't be losing sleep over it if the above was the deal and it fell through at the 11th hour.
Gee I'd be happy with that. We'd probably have to send a sweetener the Dogs' way though.

From what I've heard he's regressed badly this year. Perhaps he'd be nice as a project but unfortunately he'd have little trade value and looks set to join the legion of first round draft busts.

Yeah, Jed Lamb for Tippett sounds like a fair trade, since he was a major factor in your premiership win???

In fact he is such a gun, why don't we through in Danger & Sloaney too...

Mate I agree, I can't see them giving us a decent trade so send him to the psd. But if they do we trade

The supposed 2nd round draft pick clause for Tippett is rearing its ugly head again....

The Sunday Telegraph understands the Swans will only have to give up pick No. 42 in next month's national draft because of a clause in Tippett's contract with the Crows which allows him to go to the club of his choice for a second-round selection.
Adelaide were happy to make the deal three years ago because Tippett could have signed with the Gold Coast as an uncontracted player.

I thought his had been put to bed as not being legally-binding. Is this just lazy reporting or are we really up shit-creek with this?

Classy outside run...really. He has played 0 games this year, add that to his career high of 0 which gives us a whopping total of 0 AFL games.
WOW what a deal, when can we sign. We'd be happy to throw in Danger to get it over the line.
How bloody lucky are we to get this "deal of the century". Sorry, just pinching myself at the generosity of such a trade....WOW again!!!!

All I suggested was that he's a name that might be involved. No need to overreact and pretend I was proposing a straight swap. Definitely worth watching some footage from the 2nd half of his year before suggesting he is a hack

AFC have come out & said the gentleman's agreement is off the table, as it was designed for him to go home, as opposed to be a mercenary in his contract renegotiations.

Bottom line is if Sydney want Tippett, come up with a fair trade value, otherwise AFC will look to trade him elsewhere.

How does Goodes & Co feel about Kurt becoming the highest paid player in a premiership team?

Think this deal will need more than a straight swap of Grundy, White or TDL and 22 would have to be 8 to low teens and a player or a number of picks. Up to Sydney to pony up and get creative. At least 1 or 2 other clubs needed to get this over the line. Hello bullies, power and dees and maybe the lions as well. A super trade will be needed to get this over the line. Think FAITH has already stated as much.

Lazy reporing & AFL would have something to say about a non-market trade deal for a gun player.

No. Read the article again. There is no confirmation there is a clause in his contract. It is, quote "an understanding between the parties". Trigg said the other day since he isn't going home the "understanding" is void.
And don't forget this bit "Swans chief executive Andrew Ireland told The Sunday Age the deal between Tippett and the Crows was an understanding and not contractually binding. But he did not know what the Crows would ask for".

So again nothing contractually binding.
