While I'm sure some of the Adelaide players would have the shits with Kurt, I find it very hard to believe that this feeling extends 'throughout the AFL'. I imagine there's plenty of players who would have a view on his conduct, but that's a long way from being VERY unhappy.
I reckon there will be a few very unhappy Swans players.

hopefully this is the beginning of the end for the Swans.

As for his future team-mates at Sydney, should he get there, how will they feel as premiership winning players when they know that the new boy Tippett is getting twice as much as they do, and now that his demands have been published they will know to the cent rather than suspect or guess. I can't see that creating a harmonious team spirit at Sydney when heroes like Goodes and Bolton would have never seen money anywhere near what the inconsistent Tippett will be getting.

How do you reckon that will play out when his first half a dozen games (rd 12 onwards) are absolute stinkers and Sydney lose a few close ones?

The compensation pick from Davis in conjunction with Pick 10 in last years draft is what we used to get Crouch and Brown.

We got Tambling with our compensation for Bock. :(

If we stretch it a bit, we could say that we also received an intangible benefit for Bock in the sense that had he not gone, Davis would not have had the opportunity to boost his stocks & more importantly now, Talia may still have been languishing in the SANFL or worse, asked for a trade to Carlton or wherever.

We can no longer make an assumption of our guilt though, as we clearly are. No football administration in their right mind would forgo draft picks if they believed they were innocent.

Time will tell I guess, as has been the case since the beginning of trade week.

For mine though Trigg has definitely got to go now. I've stayed quiet on that whole area waiting for the penalties to come out, but we have made more than our initial admission of an agreement, we have now gone and given ourselves a very harsh penalty, which whether he likes it or not, he has to take responsibility for.
sadly I agree. Cant see how he can stay.

So far we dont know all the facts. We just dont. if theres a settlement with the AFL we may NEVER know.

Claiming that the results were predictable when we dont even know the circumstances that brought us to where we are is ridiculous.

Sure, things look bad. Everyone goes on about losing our highest paid player for nothing... well that hasnt actually happened yet, hes still on our list.

The attitude that 'OMFG THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE AND BECAUSE OF WHAT HAPPENS IN THE FUTURE WITHOUT KNOWING WHAT HAPPENED IN THE PAST SACK TRIGG' shits me, so dont think youre alone finding something to be shitted about in a 900 page thread.
Well we've already lost 2 draft picks so we know whats happening already today, it has nothing to do with the future. This would only have happened if we are guilty of doing something wrong and thats the agreement. The finer details of it are irrelevant. We are guilty, weve admitted to it. Trigg was aware of it, he was part of an illegal agreement and had the chance to bullet proof us by trading him. So again what does hindsight have to do with it?

The 'view on his conduct' would mean that many, despite his talent, would rather not have him as a team mate. Trust is crucial for team cohesiveness. No many what your opinion NOONE can argue that Muppet can be trusted. Given the choice of team v self Muppett has shown clearly he will choose self every time. I reckon this is at odds with most players beliefs.

Seems to me that Chapman is now driving this from our perspective.

And we are being more aggressive than we otherwise would have, ie hiring quality lawyers and negotiating with the AFL such a plea bargain.

Far better than just sitting back and letting the AFL dictate to us, as was the case in other issues.

If all we cop next year in financial sanction, this action of "forfeiting" the draft picks is well worth it.

Being proactive seems to be the name of the game and delivering possible scenarios through the media is nowa popular technique. The story quotes Tippett and his lawyers 'are making a power play to force (his) ...delistment'......'Gallbally wants to go to the AFL Greivance Tribunal, but could be forced into the Victorian Supreme Court'. This type of publicity can act to magnify your position and also keep your 'opponent' on the back foot. Tippett faces charges similar to the Crows people, but his side is showing nothing but agression. The Crows however seem to be acquiesing to the AFL to orchestrate a minimum impact outcome for all. At least I hope that is what it results in.
I also wonder who came up with the "gesture of good will' label for relinquishing the draft picks. If the AFC and AFL are whispering in each others ears re this manouevre, surely something a little more apt/believable could have been coined? Not real convincing spin.

Anyway back to my first para. It will be interesting to see how the Tippett dynasty fares legally with all this. Dollars can almost always buy you the favoured legal outcome.

I was surprised too. I guess there's a fair bit of Club and teammate loyalty out there still? The Sydney players you can understand - I mean, we've all raised it in here. They are the ones "very unhappy" at the prospect of him being a future team mate. Apparently they are worried about the culture they've worked hard to develop. It's the guys from other Clubs that just think he's a w***er and they wouldn't want to play with him. One of them used to play with him up here, so I guess he knows more of him than most.

Just ours Jen, or wider ?

It wasn't referring to ours (although someone in here already posted something about that?). Players from 3 different clubs with very definite views on what they think of him.

Muppet suing us makes no sense. WE AREN'T ALLOWED TO DELIST HIM. The AFL has stopped us. Why not sue the AFL?

*answer is obviously he has no balls

He'll be claiming that the AFL has prevented him from being a delisted free agent because of our actions. So he'll be suing us for doing the wrong thing and getting him punished as well.

To succeed at that he has to prove that he was induced into signing the contract, otherwise he is clearly just as culpable as we are. And it will be nigh impossible for him to prove that he was induced.

Well, well, well.

The club endorsing the view we need to give up draft picks for our actions.

Are we not standing up for what we believe or are we saying that the act is sufficicently bad enough to cost at least those draft picks?

If it's the former I'm very disappointed - if you fight and have that outcome; so be it.
If its the latter, and heads don't roll - all I can do is shake my head.

AFGM - can you shed some light on the 'factions' of the club and where they sit with this whole debarkle? Happy to take PM if you don't want to go public (not that you've had issues with that in the past ;) )

I can assure you that from those I have spoken to they are not worried about "the culture". He will either fall into line or he will play in the two's - no questions (if he gets here). Also they shrug their shoulders when you talk about money. The players really do leave it up to the club to sort that out. Now having said that the club will want to have got the numbers right, when the next group come off contract and are looking for a pay rise. One said to me that if we dont get Tippett then that money will be used to chase another player next year, so they dont see it going to them anyway.

If tippett gets his way to sydney it will be a disgrace to football.

Completely agree, but the AFL will look like fools if he does and it would be better for the AFL, Vlad and football in Sydney if he were to end up at their Greater Western friends

So then, already your players are divided on this, because clearly some of them do have a problem with him coming there.

And LMAO at play in the TWOs. Yeah right, pay him close to a million dollars and play him in the twos.

Pretty sure the AFL can't/won't allow him to become a delisted free agent because of the precedent it would set.

Read the article carefully -

There's a lot of woulda coulda shoulda about that piece - not much hard fact. The Tippett camp keeps threatening legal action via the media but they have yet to put their balls on the chopping block.

I understand that there is the W C S scenario hence my question what happens if the AFL is forced too. Would we get some compensation under the fre agency rules??? I know its all hypothectical but it would be interesting what would happen.
