The nose is pretty close to the eyes region, and he can be seen poking Neale in the eye anyway.
Can you show the footage or direct a link to it? I can find this;

All I can see there is Greene’s hand within proximity to Neale’s face. I have screen saved the image. I would think that an eye gouge would show fingers clearly digging into the eye of the opponent, that is simply a hand in the general vicinity, and the charge is ‘unnecessary contact to the face’. Well what was unnecessary about it? That’s what I’d like to know.

Now this is the incident with Bontempelli which received a $7,500 fine. This is far more aggressive, deliberate and with obvious repercussions of Bontempelli wincing afterwards. Now this drew a $7,500 fine. How can anyone legitimately deem the Neale incident was worse?

Think he could get off on careless and low impact and there being doubt about whether Neale holding his face on the ground is specifically related to contact from Greene.

Th

Thanks for confirming your agenda as to why you want Greene off, I'm sure you speak for others in this thread as to why they are also hoping against hope that a serial eye gouger gets cleared. :thumbsu: A bit of awareness please, it's got nothing to do with any sort of morals or decency upheld at the tribunal.
Serial eye gouger?

Spare me.

(before your concentration levels fade out) and you start dreaming about the vexing choice of upsizing a 2 Piece Feed for dinner, or saving for a spoil at Red Rooster on Tuesday and washing it down with some moderately priced boxed wine.
You seem well versed on the daily specials at various fast food chains. Got any info on the best battered mars bars in sydney?

You don’t have to attend if you’re a member, there’s probably quite a few that pay but can’t get there.
Very true mate- going by the telecast I'd say there were at least twenty thousand members that couldn't make it.

Edit: Actually lol looking at the picture again I'm not even sure there's 5,000 GWS members there. Half the bloody stadium is empty and the capacity is 24,000.

Is this an actual rule or one of those classic afl 'make the rules up as you go' sort of things? maybe he gets a week for 'not playing in the spirit of the game'.

seriously the footage we've seen wouldn't even have got a second look if it was any other player.

I think they are just making up as they go mate, that is how Gill's AFL rolls.

If both actions are similar then they should be dealt with the same way. Both sent straight to the tribunal or both penalised with a direct suspension.

But no, The MRO isn't happy that he didn't heed the 'warning' last week so they make up a new interpretation to get the outcome they want.
This is exactly what is happening but is it wrong?

In most workplaces you can receive a warning for a particular incident. If another like incident occurs the second incident does not have to be equal to or worse than the first for more severe action to be taken.

The problem the afl has is that their rules don't allow for this so we are were we are now. Other than court action players/clubs need to suck it up.

I honestly believe toby should have coped at least a week for the first incident but he didn't.

If his appeal is successful the mro (mc) look like idiots. If it is unsuccessful then the entire system needs some explaining.

Toby should have been smarter after last week. He can be aggressive without hands going near another players face.

On a side note, i wish i didn't hate him so much, one of the better players to watch at the moment.

What question are you posing to me exactly? Can you clarify?
Should the AFL return Toby Greene’s fine from last week, and just give him two weeks off?

This would give us a consistent result.

With the MRP thread closed, due to a digression of trolling and abuse along with the suspension being upheld, this thread is open again. Should we see a repeat of the behavior over there, it wont be unnoticed.

absolutely stupid from him to even get close to putting himself in that situation again. deserved what he got , should have got 2 weeks

Flawed with error
Evidence of retribution

Basically the case was so ambiguous that based on the evidence and argument of law from Greene’s representative, it had to have been downgraded to a fine. There was nothing to suggest what he did was worse than the week before.

I can’t help but feel the AFL were righting a wrong from a week ago to make up for the fact he should’ve been rubbed out for the Bontempelli incident.

Very very amateur.

Toby pretty much took the attention off everyone else this week. Before you know it its time to play. Bet there are 3 other coaches very happy with the way the news cycle has unfolded.

Did he say that?
Pretty much.

— Accused the AFL Court of Appeals for playing favourites because Greene played for the Giants and not a big Victorian club, such as Collingwood.

“If this was any other player, this would not have even got through the MRO.

(I’m) gutted. It’s a preliminary final we are talking about. If this was a Collingwood player there would be uproar.

“If this was another player — and I don’t’ want to name individuals — if it was any other player, especially at Collingwood, I don’t think we’d be hearing the last of it. There is not enough people standing up for Giants people on their own.

by now the Match review officer, the biased tribunal panel members and the appeals panel have all been dismissed as idiots or cheats by the wise men and women of social media. Just because things dont go the way we'd prefer them to go doesn't always mean they are wrong. You can be wrong too believe it or not.

100% this is what happened. you can make the argument that he eventually he got what he had coming to him, but if this was a court of law he plays this week and the AFL pays his legal fees.

It’s not about things going your way, it’s about consistency and professionalism from the AFL. It’s pretty clear the Bontempelli incident was far worse, and it’s pretty obvious the AFL are giving him the ban to make up for that cataclysmic debacle.
