So I can kinda see how where there is a minimum salary that has to be spent why they would have structured his contract this way. If there were no salary cap base I think even Dogs fans would concede the contract was ludicrous but they are doing it just to make minimum spend I am guessing. And unless he comes good in a hurry his next contract may just be close to minimum at which time they can reward their loyal superstars who stayed no matter what with their 7 figures :)
His next contracts in 5 years isnt it ?

Yep when Bontempelli hits 25 years of age and likely his prime at which time they can tell big Thomas to take 50k a year or GTFO :p and then give Marcus GAJ money to shine even brighter :D

His judgement when flying for a mark and in a ruck contest was way off tonight . Horific night for the doggies sad to see a season derailed by injuries but who knows and good luck dogs .

Ryan Griffin hasn't been much better.
Bulldogs are definitely getting value for the money they're still paying him.

The bont is a seriously good player isnt he .

To be honest i never saw enough of the Dogs games to ever rate him much but every time I do see him this season at least he seems to go up another spot on the ladder of best players in the league hence why I think the Boyd timing works well. Bontempelli at 25 kicking to a prime Stringer at 27 could be the most valued tandem in the league at that time :)

Every week its the ball isnt kicked to him or he is man handled and the umps dont pay him enough frees. At 28 games in how long before the diehards concede? This is not somebody that needs to physically develop.

If you think he's the reason we lost tonight, you've got absolutely no idea :$
No but playing with 21 men instead of 22 doesnt help, does it?

It was more like 20 vs. 24, Suckling and Jong were diabolical - did more for the Saints than for us

Bloody thankful GWS drafted him and not anyone else. Most teams get a top pick once in a lifetime, had any other team picked him up they would be screwed for a long time. GWS had so many picks they could afford to get some not quite right though to be honest not sure Josh Kelly has been much better for them yet but he is showing a lot of promise :)

There's no way this bloke makes it as an AFL forward.

There's a glimmer of rucking ability there, the Doggies need to focus his energies in that area.

I thought Jong was pretty terrible in the first half, but turned it around somewhat after this goal?

May be wrong with that though, wasn't watching him as closely as you would have been.

It is pretty hard to defend Thomas at the moment - but now with injuries to blokes competing for his positions he is going to have to play ; and us dogs supporters are going to have to find out yes or no . The ball is going to be in his court and he is probably going to face the same scrutiny as Hardwick , Buckley , Cloke and Lepper over the next six weeks even though he has been on the big stage for five minutes.
That fellow Steven from StKilda can play though !

He was a man child and beat up on defenders 20 kilos lighter than himself.

Still, recruiters are usually in tune with whether a player has 'AFL traits'...would have thought they'd be able to pick out that Boyd's strength wont be that much of an advantage at AFL level and that his speed and agility is seriously lacking.
