I'm sure it generates plenty.

But Boyd didn't deliver a flag singlehandedly and a flag doesn't cause the salary cap to evaporate.

He kicked 3.2, 10 Kicks, 4 Handballs, 8 marks and rucked well. He clearly had a major impact on the match and was one of the key reasons we won. That is undeniable.

So happy to see TB stand tall today on the big stage. Hopefully that is his springboard.

You have to wonder about the mindset of people who want a #1 pick and potential star of the game to fail just because the a club paid overs to get him in.

I know. So bitter. It is actually quite sad.

Yeah. And what?

He played really well. No one is disputing that.

But you still have a shitload of work left to do to explain how he's worth a million bucks a season.

All I'm saying is that whatever we've paid him to date is justified because he was an important part in us winning a premiership, and without him we likely not win a premiership this year.

Amazing how he grew into the game as it went on. He had a blinder today and could do nothing wrong, marking everything, reminiscent of Hawkins in 2011. He was awesome, probably moreso because Tippett was so disgustingly bad.

So you think he's been worth a million bucks a season?

It's absurd to simply say premiership = Boyd's salary was justified.

It's possible that you won a flag with him contributing while still being overpaid.

Is he worth $1 million a season?

If you're going to give attitude, you have to expect it in return.

Giving attitude and taking someone out of context are two different things.

Maybe you're getting attitude because you're bitching and moaning on an Internet forum at midnight about a 21 year old kid who has just played an important part in a premiership for his club.

And it's possible to overpay someone and it still be justified. Do you see my point?

Maybe we had to overpay him to get him to the club? And in doing so he helped deliver us a premiership. Therefore it is justified.

Who's bitching?

Boyd was great in the GF but that doesn't mean his salary has been justified. I say that without any malice or agenda but as a straightforward observation. It seems to me like the most obvious thing in the world. Why are you unwilling to acknowledge it?

Averaged out across the reported deal, he was overpaid in those years?

If you take an average salary over the entire term, then you need to compare it to the average output over the entire term. And the latter is obviously impossible given it is in the future.

Rubbish.

On average, he's getting a million bucks a year.

With that in mind, in 2015 and 2016, he's been overpaid.

He might become the greatest player of all time and it will look like a bargain by 2021.

But so far, he's been overpaid. Do you disagree? Why does it make you uncomfortable to acknowledge this very obvious point?

Because it is a moot point. It's not the right question.

The important question is: was it the right decision to bring TBoyd to the club? And the premiership, and his contribution to achieving it, emphatically answers that as a yes.

I need to head off to dinner to celebrate the premiership. Feel free to keep typing about this issue indefinitely.

He just won us a Grand Final with a BOG performance. We just broke a 62 year drought so yeah he's worth whatever the **** we are paying him. If we paid him 100% of the cap he'd be worth it, as long as we won the premiership. Why else do you pay players lol???

In a team otherwise bereft of quality tall timber, he is absolutely not underpaid - just played a massive role in them winning a prelim and a grand final.

Who else would have been able to do that, and where are they on the Dog's list?

You haven't really grasped what just happened, how do you put a price on a key cog in a GF team when you didn't have a replacement?

But so far, he's been overpaid. Do you disagree? Why does it make you uncomfortable to acknowledge this very obvious point?

What a cop out.

You know he's been overpaid to date but can't bring yourself to admit it. I don't really understand why that's the case.

The important question is: was it the right decision to bring TBoyd to the club? And the premiership, and his contribution to achieving it, emphatically answers that as a yes.
So you're willing to make that call after two years but can't say whether he's been overpaid to date or not?

Surely you can't have it both ways.

I'm not disputing his contribution to today's GF win. But that doesn't mean he hasn't been overpaid to date. He has. Clearly.

I don't think that will be necessary. Your response makes it clear you know he's been overpaid to date but don't want to say so. Otherwise you'd just say 'no, he's been worth a million bucks a year'. But he hasn't. And everyone knows it.

Should every player get $1 million per year?
