Tom Boyd

Are you kidding? You clearly didn't watch our finals games did you? Because if you did you are a poor judge of football.

He was everywhere in the elimination and rucked 3/4 of the prelim as the only ruck. Was huge for us. But no, go back and look at the stats sheet and make your sound judgements.

To be fair, if anyone knows about spudding it up in elimination finals, it's a Richmond supporter!!

So by your definition, meeting expectations of any player is classified as a spud?
I never said that.

Not sure why you're continuing on with his deflection. Riewoldt is a better player than T. Boyd and he has absolutely nothing to do with this topic.

Coming from a Richmond supporter who sign Ivan Maric for another year. The whole football world is pissing themselves laughing!!!
Go Tommy!!!!Premiership star!!!!!!!!!!
Still deflecting. Very telling.

How much did Riewoldt get over his career?
This is the most illogical thing I've ever read.

You clearly didn't watch the preliminary final very closely then
I did. I think he improved in each game. GF > PF > SF > EF.

His first 2 finals were more than serviceable.
He was poo in the EF and that was with the umpires giving him a ride too.

Sorry mate but he nailed you there, picked a coupla shockers for the Ole username :/
Lol okay. I changed my username after both players were delisted so I'm pretty sure I knew what I was doing

Elimination final - West Coast versus Western Bulldogs - Tom Boyd frees for = 1

Armchair ride or you're making things up?

Bitching about it not being holding the ball when Boyd took on three Eagles and handballed it out.

Boyd is still a spud.

He was really good in the Grand Final but he was bad in the elimination final and not that great in the other 2 finals.

He's still young and i'll wait and see how things unfold next year but I think people are getting a bit carried away.

Big guys is hard to tackle, this is not news.
JKK spun more times than a politician's speech writer in the GF, play on. Umpires just don't pay holding the ball if you eventually handball it.

Who was the legend that put this guy out of his misery? I want to like all your posts.

Christ I've never seen someone talk so much shit. Get off your high horse, not everything is black and white. Tom Boyd was recruited from GWS for $X and is now a premiership player at the Western Bulldogs, ending a 62yr drought.

STFU about it.

I would be totally ok with Melbourne paying Boyd a million bucks, even if he didn't play for us, if it contributed to us breaking the now longest-running premiership drought in the AFL.

Bingo.
If someone said "you can pay a kid $6m over 7 years, he will struggle for a couple of years, play an excellent GF, never play well again but you'd have a flag" I would still do that deal in a heartbeat.
If that deal was offered every 7 years I'd do it - a flag every 7 years is well ahead of the bell curve.

Playing safe doesn't win flags. Geelong sold the farm for Ottens and lo and behold - they break their drought. Swans paid heavily for Plugger than turned them from a basketcase to a premiership threat, Hall gets them a flag.
Big, ballsy trades actually work (noting Melbourne traded a high price to get their mini-draft pick that nabbed them Hogan).

Like I said two dozen pages ago - this year has has improved on last year and is doing everything right except holding onto those marks. He has been getting both hands to so many balls and just dropping almost every one like clockwork.

If you could go back to any of his last 10 games for us and apply the same glue to his hands in those games as he apparently applied in the GF, then most of those 10 games would have been similar to his GF game - seriously.

Now. Bulldogs fans will be hoping that he can continue to hold his marks. Maybe..maybe, its due to his bung shoulder that will be operated on over the preseason. Perhaps, having got to the GF, he/we just thought **** it - jab that shoulder and go 100% at the ball, and if it blows up in the GF then so be it, because its the last and most important game of the season. Because the difference between holding almost none of his marks to holding almost all of them in the space one one week is so marked.

The first couple of games next season will tell the story - will it be the old butter hands Boyd or the new clunk boyd?

I'm unaware of this, can you expand on it?

What's there to expand on? Hurley outpointed Hogan in several one on one contests in round 15 2015 on his way to a best on ground performance.

I'm merely trying to point out absurdity of Hogan being so strong that he's never been out muscled although I quoted the wrong post.

st kilda would pay that for a flag.

More than they paid barker breen and co what was it 20 cents in the dollar? Putting boyd at saints on 200k a year! I think theyd pay that. Not sure Boyd would want to endure the moorabbin industrial stench for 200k but. There is a safeway down there but.

St Kilda supporters donated money to keep Footscray in the competition not long after Lindsay Fox dudded St Kilda's creditors (Donald Trump would call that "smart").

Footscray supporters have made us regret it ever since.

Paying $1mil a year for a VFL player and carrying him for 2 years in the hope that he might one day have a good game in a grand final isn't a very sound investment strategy.

Who's to say that the Dogs wouldn't have gone undefeated the whole season and won this year's and last year's premierships if they had decided to look elsewhere?

Maybe you guys should trade Bontempelli and go ask Mitch Morton to make a comeback on a fat paycheck.

Good thing we're not doing that then, hey?
