Ask yourself - if you were offered double your salary to do the same job 20kms away, would you do it? Now it might not be exactly double what TDK is currently on, but you get my point. It's a significant upgrade in salary to do the same job and you only have to travel 20kms further each morning.

He probably lives in the southern suburbs so he would have to travel less

I think what happens when athletes reach their mid-20s and start to enter their peak years is their managers get in their ear about their future and the idea that this is probably the largest amount of money they'll ever earn in their life. At a certain point, I think it turns into an irresponsible decision (for you and/or your family) to not take the money e.g. it would have been irresponsible for Gary Ablett Jr to have not taken the money on offer from the Suns, despite knowing the team wouldn't be competitive for a while. I've listened to many athletes in many sports say 'I had to take the money' when faced with decisions like this and I think it's hard for some fans to wrap their heads around that because to us it's the game/club we love, but to the players it's a business and they have to think about what's best for them.

I wont begrudge him if he goes. But $1m+ per season is still very good coin. If it ends up 8 year at $1.25m then TDK is really giving up ~$270k per season. That $270k would be the value of intangibles - playing with blokes he knows well and grew together as footballers riding highs and lows, in flag window, Boyhood Blue Bagger.

Believe what you like I won’t reply any further but I have it on good authority that he wants to play for the Suns. Will re visit this comment in the trade period. Cheers

you sure you didnt get your TK mixed up? SDK was rumored and the Suns have read and moyle who are both more than handy rucks, where will TDK play?

Huge Warwick Capper fan growing up, I heard.

Cool story

As a three-year-old, Sam trailed five-year-old Tom around at Auskick. But he had his own mind already. Asked what he wanted to be when he grew up, he replied: “Better than Tom.” Asked again in grade six, he said: “A Brownlow medallist for Carlton.”

I was told months ago that St Kilda was the team most heavily into TDK and massive contract offer on the table
which was being considered and the saints confident.

I posted this info on the stkilda board about 2 months after i first heard it and probably posted similar on this thread which i cant remember atm.

The info came from a person that is a blues supporter that has very close ties to very influential people at St kilda and i totally believe this info.

The $$$ that was mentioned i just cant see GC getting near with their current players under contract and coming out of contract with the talent they have stockpiled

Its either St Kilda or stay at Carlton IMO

Has anything he said come true other than Smith which everyone knew about 12 months out anyway?

Butters was coming apparently, Clarry was over the line, TDK and SDK both going north on big money... No idea why you'd take anything he said at face value.
not to go too far defending him here but you've listed one correct, one that got to the point of visiting Stanley's farm but didn't get over the line, one that he said was a 50/50 and stayed, and two that aren't tested yet.

Makes no sense.
The Suns absolutely cannot afford him $ wise even if Rowell goes and someone like Moyle and probably read too would request trades in about a millisecond if he went there.

Well, after re-signing with Geelong, that was a lie.

Read is a serious serious talent too. Every chance of ending up one of the best rucks or key backs in the league imo. Outstanding junior talent.
