Looked at the video. Couldn't work out how he goes into a pack at a running jump and then topples over backwards. Then this morning one of the pics in the SH (not the backpage one) had Hawkins flying up, but with a hand around his waist. Looked at the video today A WCE comes in behind, doesn't compete for the ball, but just grabs Hawk and pulls him backwards while he is in the air. I don't know the rules, but I would think that is a pretty dangerous thing to do.

sure is, but hardly unheard of in a sport such as footy.

would happen 10+ times a game, and every now and again someone is going to hit the deck hard.

Nothing in it,some times ya fly's and some times ya dies.

I wondered whether this would be raised. My impression was the WC by placing one hand around his waist and running under him forced Hawks lower body forward thereby unbalancing him. Taking a player’s feet when he’s in mid air is an offence. But I’m not sure that argument could be sustained here. Worth a conversation though

When I first saw it my first thought was he was tunneled and nothing I've seen since has changed that.
McKenzie used his hips to take Hawks legs out from under him and pulled his top half back leading to the result that happened

Hope he is ok that was a hard knock

thanks... it looked terrible. he even seemed to be convulsing a little on the ground. i was pretty worried for a while, but seems he will be fine. will not miss more than a week at most, i would think.

Just saw it on the news, and it looked like an Eagles player had his hands on Tom's upper arms and pulled him down that way. Will be interesting to see if they at least have a look at it.

i hope they dont...

honestly, that kind of thing is part of the game, and every now and again someone is going to fall badly.

if taylor got rubbed out for holding or pulling an opponent before they walloped their bonce on the deck, i would be filthy...

actually thought it was a complete nothing of a fall and kept waiting for him to get up, then he didn't, then they showed a close in replay and he wasn't moving and he didn't open his eyes for aaages, had me worried but still thinking just get up, was also relieved when i heard the Eagles crowd cheering for him when he was getting taken off and when they saw footage of him up and about

He was snoring. Sometimes when guys get KO'd good they snore, dunno why it's strange.

Doubt it will get looked at, it's not as if his arms were pinned stopping him from protecting his head!

Tom Hawkins exposed as a mouth breather!

I admit I thought he'd taken a dive but stayed down way too long. When the medical staff started running (instead of their normal light jog) I realised he was in trouble. Very glad to see him up and around in the rooms later.

Will he play next week?

Looked like convulsions to me, too.

'k.

Show me one incident where Taylor was down and has grabbed an opposition player and pulled him backwards when he was flying for a mark.

Anyone show me a similar video that ended in a guy getting knocked out?

im not entirely sure what you are asking...

if taylor intentionally slammed some guys head into the ground, he should get weeks. if he tried to stop a player taking a mark, even slightly illegally, and as a consequence that player hit the deck hard knocking himself out, it should not be looked at.

no matter what the WC player did, their intent would have been to stop hawkins marking it, and that is it. there is no way, in my opinion, of course, that WC player was trying to cause hawkins scone to smack the ground, knocking him out.

accident, and simply a part of a game like ours. seriously, hawkins would have been interfered with in that way so many times, and he will be so many more. but its unlikely he will ever knock himself out like that again.

unfortunate accident. again, just my opinion.

Double action of holding his hips and Mackenzie taking Toms legs out from under him with his legs.
Whatever it was it certainly won them the game. Hope Tom pulls up OK , feck me he's in good form at the moment.

Don't agree he has been infringed in that way "many times". I've seen him play alot.Well before he arrived at Geelong - while playing for Melbourne Grammar. Never seen anything like that before. Let's hope it doesn't happen "many more" times cos it will bring a premature end to his career if the consequence is the same. Players have a duty of care not to take the action known as tunnelling. It's extremely dangerous. This case is marginal but the AFL should nonetheless look at it.

Needs ti be looked at, very dangerous
Why the f would the wce player be touching him as he was not in play

He has a duty of care

i do not think there was any malicious intent, and if tom had not belted his scone it would be a non-issue. holding like that happens in many marking contests, and if taylor did the same to someone i would be furious if he got done for it.

might have been a little forceful, but hardly outside the general course of the game.

the judd thing, that was an incident well outside the course of the game. this was typical scragging which had an unfortunate outcome.

im annoyed about tom having to be subbed out as anyone, but i do not think the WC player has a case to answer. just my opinion.

He has a duty of care

'holding the man' happens all the time. people get held, pulled and pushed off the ball constantly.

the duty of care comment is ridiculous. the way tom hit that pack could seriously mess someones nugget up if he happens to knee them in the temple... we play a rough sport, and while the outcome was bad, and the pulling was probably quite forceful, i do not agree that the WC player has breached any duty of care to tom.

people complain about the contest being taken out of our game, and yet this is being put forward by some as a reportable or punishable offence? without the savage smack into the ground, its a non-event.

horrible outcome, but in my opinion the actions of the WC player (was it glass or mckenzie?) look bad because the outcome was bad.

He looked like he was having a seizure .. its common with seizures to have a grunting or snoring type of noise..I have seen many..

Would be surprised to see any MRP action.
Tunnelling is a free kick and reportable offense.

Wont happen. 1 on 1 easier to judge but pack situation much harder to prove - especially intent.

And for the conspiracy theorists.... its against us so no chance it will get a look.

But Selwood and SJ will get a call up for tackles and bumps....
