Some of you need to chill out, be better than geelong supporters.

We dont need to wish injuries on anyone or hope someone evens it up.

Just be content in the fact we win when it really matters.

Also the thread is about Stewart and Prestia

He didn’t look happy with himself at sll, he looked like he felt pretty bad.

It was a dog act and he deserves 4-5 weeks, but I don’t think it was as premeditated as some here believe.

If the shoe was on the other foot this board would be defending our playing and whinging about how “woke” the world has become.

Thank you. Someone talking sense

Intentional, careless, reckless all seem fairly vague terms to me.
I think it was late enough to be "not in play" (whatever difference that means??)

The big issue here is the protecting of the head.
I think the AFL will be facing so many lawsuits down the track.
Shane Tuck, Danny Frawley - the evidence of brain damage from playing AFL is already fairly clear and is not going to get any quieter.
Greg Williams can't remember the match in which he won the Norm Smith. This came from a Deakin University report into CTE from almost 10 years ago!

They've brought in the concussion tests - but really feels like a token, especially when they toothlessly OK'd Port's action in not testing their 2 players who clashed heads and knocked each other down.

This is a real chance for the AFL to show how concerned they really are with protecting the head.
I think it's inevitable that the evidence of brain damage causes the game to completely change from what we know.
As a spectator it'll be a shame, but you can't have the game affecting players for the rest of their life.

Rubbish.Their concern was for Dion and Dion only as it should be.
Really? Even level 1 first aiders know that you don't move the neck in case of head, neck or back trauma, instead they allowed a ****ing game to go on around them and made him walk off himself for the sake of a ****ing 20minute timeout ...

In the real world - i.e the MCG car park - the actions would be deemed to be a criminal offence !

Agree, definitely just as critical of the rfc staff as the umpires in not stopping the game, it’s possible that the trainers on the ground were actioning for the stretcher but doctors on the bench made the decision not to that’s why they waited so long before trying to move him

My sister who is a nurse was a medic for one of the West Gippsland football sides - she stated that a Central Football Umpire was abusing a player who was knocked out cold and recovering for holding up the start of play

The campaigner needs to go for 6 weeks minimum and better bring a spare pair of pants when we meet in September

Blokes need to get over this retribution stuff.

No one will do anything firstly because our team aren't that hard and most importantly because it's not Ice Hockey where you send in an enforcer to extract a pound of flesh the next time you play.

Wouldn't waste energy on retribution in September, get the W and move onto next week. Bigger fish to fry.

Don't give Geelol any fuel by starting fights etc.

The best retribution would be to knock them out of finals, again.
This!!!!

If there was ever a time the footy gods came through, this is it. Please make it happen.
No need to go the hit... Dion dominates and the chokers are denied a premiership....AGAIN.... By the Tigers ..AGAIN... Best!!

Beat them in a final OR knock out Tom Stewart?

Why Dont We Have Both GIF

this, im sorry but i honestly think its all a bit overblown

dimmas not gunna sit there and tell someone to send stewart into next week, because next week well be playing in the grand final and whomever did that will not be playing.

Thought Robbo and Whateley were quite good on 360. The both reckon 5-6 weeks is about right. Interesting from Whateley that they used to have the 'reckless' category but removed it. Seems perfect for this instance - it was way more than 'careless'. And 'intentional' leaves wriggle room to talk about brain fades, and poor execution (I don't think Stewart had a premeditated intent to knock him out cold).

When was the last time a Richmond player lined up an opposition player and knocked him out?

The last big hit was Stack on Viney 3-4 years agoand that was kept legal by not targeting his head.

I think we are a bit more honest as a team and our fans buy into the culture of accountability. If Nank potentially put himself at risk of a 4 to 6 week holiday we would think it's a stupid act. Just like when we give away stupid 50m penalties.

Geelong like to make excuses and play outside the rules. Ducking, flopping taking players out.

Think of what Geelong has done in recent years. Danger knocking out Vlastuin. Hawkins pushing Soldo. Hawkins striking blokes. Ablett Jnr elbowing head high three weeks in row in 2020.

It's chalk and cheese.

He's an intercept marking defender. He stands under the football. I don't think there is anything wrong with launching a high ball in his direction and encouraging JR8 or Tom Lynch to "attack the footy". There's absolutely no need for any of our players to cop a suspension, but we should not forgive nor should we forget.

I like this post be cause IMO players do things in the heat of a moment not only under game fatigue (bit early in the game for Stewart to be fatigued - can't use this as defense excuse) and stress but because they operate to instruction.

I'm not one to believe that because a doctor say's or does it, that it is correct. The AFL Public Relations have gone down the how dare you question path. That strongly suggests that we should question the AFL a bit more, and the AFL should question Teams and umpires a bit more

In the Port game - Why wasn't concussion protocol test procedure (20 minute process) followed?

In the Geelong game -
Geelong coach staff and players
What was the specific instruction to players for contacting the the opposition?

Tom Stewart
As part of the match preparation How were you exactly instructed to play the Richmond opposition?

Joel Selwood
What were the exact words that you spoke to Tom Stewart at quarter time?
Did you and how did you instruct your team to play defensively during the first quarter?

For the Geelong v Richmond and Port v Suns game
AFL and Umpires:
What are the directives for game play on vs stoppage when there is an injury?

A pers. comment re the last question. Games scheduling seems to be such that there is minimal to no overlap from one game to another. The AFL umpires appear to have become time keepers. This might be tied to either sponsorship or gambling.

If either or both, the AFL have placed the $ well above the Health and Safety of the players.

Is this the source of the rot that the fish feels around the head region? Is this corruption?
