Disagree. The skeptics aren't skeptical about his on field ability, but the trading away of draft picks on a player who is a very high risk of being banished for off field offences.

How 'bad' are his off field discretions, look what Jeff Farmer did.

It's not the trade to be aggressive at. There are bargains to be had at the draft. Shaw, Spencer White being delisted as well as possible Kersten from Geelong. But the problem is, replacing Pav. Think the club needs to not get into the thought of replacing Pav, he's the rare type. Instead we need to build something new and have a new plan going ahead.

Simply put, we have to trade aggressively. If we don't see a certain player being involved in our best 22 in the next few years, trade/delist them. We HAVE to get McCarthy and Bennell this trade period, that is now our number one focal point. Trade out players like Suban and Mzungu, if they're still best 22 in a few years time, we haven't improved. If we can't get McCarthy and Pav retires, then we must do a mini rebuild.

Am I the only one who thinks we're better off without Sandilands next year? Clarke is a good number one ruckman, but a shite number 2 ruckman, trading out Clarke and having Sandi play another year is just stupid. Not having a go at Sandilands, just thinking long term, because we have too now.

If we can get Bennell and McCarthy, our flag window is extended immediately in the short term and so we would need Sandi. These two players could help us win a flag next year. Of course they would need to be managed as they're both coming from teams that are not too well experienced in playing out a whole season.

It's a big no from me as far as getting rid of Sandi goes.

He's still extremely effectively.

With McCarthy, it'd really depends if Pav plays on, otherwise hes our number one key forward who will get the best key defender, hes going to need Pav for one year before hes ready for that. By playing Sandilands for literally one more year, we could lose Clarke, yes hes useless as a second ruck, but people forget how good he is as a number one ruckman.

I think Clarke is gawn. If we get Luey it's seriously no sweat.

Why are people so keen on Luey anyway? I've seen him play quite a bit, hes ok, but nothing special. I think Clarke might be gone too, especially after reading on the AFL website that apparently we're the front runners for Luey.

Speaking of trading, I'd love a creative rebounding defender that can actually hit a target who doesn't have a pea heart, most of our defenders can't hit a target and it frustrates me like crazy.

Luey won't be a star but he certainly makes Clarke expendable which gives us some kind of currency to get the other guys.

Yarran would have been available for cheap but we're not interested

I think we are a massive chance for Bennell and Luey and if we pay we can get McCarthy.

Those three isn't pie in the sky kind of stuff but we will need Bondy to get the job done.

Yes it is, because WC won't be sitting on its hands and allow its cross town rival to massively strengthen itself whilst it is at 11:59 of the premiership clock.

Hope you guys don't mind me posting here because I'm a WC supporter but I'm honestly not sure why you guys would go after Bennell. He is a very good player but will still cost a bit.

My moves would be:

Replace Sherridan and de Boer with Weller and Blakely.

Look into the possibility of giving up Neale and a future first for a big name ready made forward. If that doesn't work and then go hard for McCarthy and convince Pav to play on.

Neale is a deadset gun but if you genuinely go for a flag next year then back Barlow (shouldn't be spending so much time at HF anyway) and Blakely to cover him in the middle.

Then target a ready made player with your second round pick (possibly Jetta), draft an x-factor player with your first pick to add some spark but mainly play as the sub and you guys will be a force next year.

It's asking a lot of Weller and Blakely but in a good system they should excel and hopefully add excitement that Sheed/Duggan/Lamb did for WC this year.

Maybe even look into trading for Brown from WC to replace Dawson and also add some tall/small defender flexibility to free up Johnson. Add to that a breakthrough season from the likes of Crozier and anything can happen.

Anyways that's my neutral opinion. Think it may be a big offseason for you guys.

Hope you don't mind me popping in. What would you guys want for Clarke?

Griffiths who we chased a while back.
Yeah ok, Griffiths seems to divide opinion on our board. Would be an interesting one. Do you think Clarke just needs to be full time ruck to succeed? Obviously never going to get that whilst Sandi is still kicking around

He was a very good first ruck when Sandilands and Griffin both went down.
Hopefully there will be a bidding war between Western Bulldogs and Richmond.

It's not so much that he's a bad second ruck and more so that he's lazy, disappears and only ever shows up if we're flogging teams(which we all know didn't happen that much this year).

Not sure we are about to go getting in any bidding war, yes we need someone post Ivan but he will get us through another year minimum.

I literally thought you lost tonight through lack of talent, nothing else. Lyon can coach and he's finally realised he needs to score more. I thought you were let down by 2 many b graders in one side expected to do A grade things. Pierce, Deboer, Dawson, Taberner (he could turn out all-right but wasn't up to it tonight), Griffen, Crozier (another who may be ok, I don't know him well enough, but wasn't up to it tonight), Mzungu, Barlow.
They can all fill a role in a good side but too many B graders in one side for tonight and it showed. Dropped marks, wayward kicking, stupid mistakes under pressure. I'm not sure where your youth is at but you need to get some really good drafts in my opinion. You need to set an age barrier though.
If you could replace a couple of the above with better talent in one season, I think you'll get another crack next year. If not you're in trouble. The age of your main player list is really getting up there. You obviously have to go all out for a KPF. I know you've tried before without success but you simply cannot win a premiership next year without one.

Pretty good comment for an eagles supporter

I'm happy to trade out all our picks this year and our first next year plus Clarke for McCarthy, Bennell, A Black and Luenburger as a free agent.

We'd stay a top 4 team and get much younger.

Not that familiar with Luenburger but he doesn't seem to be the type of player we need?????? Have been surprised to read we are chasing him

Maynes future is in defence, he isn't a forward.

If you can't kick from 15m and outside the 50 stay in defence.

from where we were sitting it looked like f!@#in 10m:$
i told the bloke next to me that my teenage son & nephew would've drilled that
