Somebody made comment on how unfair it is that GWS have zone access to the Riverina. Seems as if the media are catching on.

Ridiculous that they get pretty much free choice out of players from the riverina. That includes Wagga Wagga & Albury, one of which produced guys like Carey and Paul Kelly while the other is part of one of the biggest regional football leagues.

EDIT: The riverina also produced Brett Kirk & Hayden Bunton senior. So it's literally part of the football heartland.

He's enigmatic. He can look like a star, but look poor as well. BUT in our team he'd look amazing. Just depends where you'd want him to play.
Wing and half forward. I reckon he's borderline a grader, very good player.

Ask that bird of yours if there's interest I reckon?

Carlisle over Dixon for me. Think if Dixon goes anywhere, he goes up the highway.
Brisbane would move heaven and earth to get him, but I can just see Dixon craving moving to a Melbourne club, where he can be in his bushy beard and short back and sides hipster element.

Dixon is, in my honest opinion, the perfect complement to Boyd. Like Tom, he can play high up the ground and provide a link-up option; he can play closer to goal and battle for contested marks; and he can provide a nice lead-out option from the goal square. Also is relatively athletic and can relieve Boyd from the ruck work.

Unfortunately likely comes down to one of Carlisle or Dixon (unless the latter doesn't opt for a trade this year and hits free agency next year). I'd still choose Carlisle.

He's also a fierce tackler and he's got good movement for someone at 203cm. He's quicker than Boydy thats for sure. Would compliment him beautifully. We need to pump as much time into the Roberts + Talia combination to see whether it can hold up.

Can we afford the proposed 750k output that Dixon and Carlisle (it sounds as if) are commanding.

In terms of injury and playing performance Dixon IMO is the bigger risk
In terms of WADA sanctions Carlisle is also a big risk.

Both are dire needs and 7 years players (which is vital)!!

Dixon would be a prefect fit but at 750k rumored
Not toally sold yet
Agreed. I think the bonti, macrae, strings, Libba crowd understand the boyd salary. But gut feel is there'd be some resentment towards paying someone like Dixon massive overs.

Agreed
plus hes been injury prone throughout his career and think hes highest is 6 goals
which hes only done a few times.

Rather offer a reasonable 350-500k per year
Less pressure on cap and allows other guns for price raises

600k maximum bout right but 750k is too much. Irrespective whether that player be Carlisle/Dixon whomever, 750k is too much to spend for our cap presently.

No thanks to Dixon - he has far more potato days than caviar days. Carlisle would be ideal, except for that potential 2 year noose he has hovering around his neck courtesy of the doping scandal. is there still time for Crammers to sing like a canary?

As much as I want Carlisle and wanted WHE, I don't think our list is in such dire need of outside talent. I'm not a huge Dixon fan - we don't kick to people on the lead very much (this will have to change) but IMO Boyd is five times the player Dixon is.

Dixon's having a laugh if he expects $750k from a club that isn't Brisbane.
