Good to see we haven’t mentioned any of the names in the top 10’s in the Combine kicking tests as prospects. **Lukocious out of reach

Draft picks are, by and large, over valued. They’re just a commodity to parlay into talent for your list.

Not only that, if teams just continue to use their picks to draft kids, they de-value even moreso. Some recent examples:

Gold Coast turning 2016 pick 7 (jack scrimshaw) into a borderline delist.

Gws turning 2016 pick 5 (will setterfield) into a 2nd or 3rd rounder (according to Cal Twomey).

It’s time to parlay our picks into mature talent (especially with west and khamis coming in).

We hit all the right markers to make it a no brainer.

1. We have more than enough young talent
2. Our young players have had, and will continue to have (even with the introduction of some mature talent) opportunity.
3. We have cap space.

Push the chips into the middle of the table dogs.
Love this post!

A nothing article in the HUN linking us to Menzel. If you actually read the article all it says it that he's unlikely to be at the cats and would be a good fit for the dogs.

Really getting over these cheap headlines.

Trade time wouldn't quite be the same if we weren't lazily linked to a washed up or un-contracted forward.

Good times.

Menzel is probably the complete opposite of what Bevo looks for in a player. On field work ethic, can play multiple positions, pressure. Menzel has none of that.

I applaud the man for his efforts getting back from numerous ACLs but no thanks.

Would have to come super cheap, know he is on his last chance, can kick goals - I would consider him (wholly on the Dogs terms)

I've never understood the argument of what you are prepared to give up (pick / player wise) and the incoming players salary having any correlation to each other.

What you give up (pick / player wise) goes to the other club. What the player's salary is goes to the player. Two separate entities.

In the Wingard situation, there is an argument floating around here that 7 & 20 with wingard getting paid $900k is too much.

I think you have to argue each one of those separately as they are mutually exclusive.

IMO 7 & 20 is too much (but is what we might have to give up to convince port to let him go).

& IMO $900k is too much regardless of picks we give up (but $900k is what we might have to pay to convince Chad (not port) to come).

I would definitely be giving Big Mummy a medical and having a look at him. He is a big, strong and uncompromising player who already has coaching experience with GWS and could certainly help our young big men, but also players like Boyd, Trengrove and Cambo if he stays. Controlled on field aggression is something our big players lack and is something he has in spades. Add to that he would be a great on-field ruck coach who doesn't need to play every game to help and have an impact and would be a great support for Kingy, but as I don't think we have a dedicated Ruck coach we'd be crazy to let this opportunity slip by without even asking the question.

For reference ........Two weeks ago Menzel was choosing between
- a 2 year deal with an performance option for a third at St.Kilda.
- a 1 year deal with performance option for a second at Geelong

Saints called him and without real reason took the offer off the table.
Told his manager (Ramma) it was because they got the two mature/established players they were after (I assume Hanners/Kent).
Then the saints called Geelong and told them they had pulled the offer.

Cats then call Ramma and tell him they have adjusted their offer.
Slashed 20% off the dollar value and the conditions for a second year.

So Menzel is fillthy on the cats and just looking for a new home so he doesnt have to go crawling back to the Cats

Mumford was completely cooked in 2017; maybe as a coach but we can't just bring in a player that can't go anymore. Plus it's less controlled aggression and the AFL media making excuses for him whenever he injured people like when his fatass landed on Libbas head.

Libba has been given a 2 week ultimatum to show the club he wants a new deal/ make up his mind.
Libba was very clean cut last night. Had a straight back and sides hair style too

This has been confirmed via multiple sources. Poor guy. Could have left the Cats earlier in his career and I wouldn't be surprised IF this puts off other potential Cats in the near future.

Feel sorry for the guy if true - but still doesn’t suit our needs surely with Lloyd, Dickson, F.Greene, Dale all in the side too.

I'm not by any means saying this information is wrong, but why would the Saints care to speak with the Cats about withdrawing an offer to a free agent??

Shocking form from the Saints to call Geelong. Such a shit club. Congratulations, they just made an enemy of the most powerful agency in football. ****wits.
