Bevo wanted gowers, reject from shambles carlton... turns out Bevo knew more then Carlton (and Dary). Bevo wanted Crozier, a nobody at middling freo, turns out Bevo knew how to unleash what Lyon had leashed. I reckon if bevo thinks he can get something out of Lloyd the Tigers couldn't, I'm gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, I may even be a touch excited to see what he sees, given recent history.
Steve Grace the VFL coach was Billy Gowers coach before he was picked up by Carlton. Dalrymple wanted Crozier, but was over
ruled by coach crack in who wanted Clay Smith instead, probably kept an eye on Croziers progression. The Austin fellow is out
of Richmond so maybe just maybe he had a little to do with our interest in Lloyd, but of course Bevo could have the all seeing
eye and be responsible for all life on planet earth.

So at the moment:

OUT:
Smith, Redpath, Biggs, Dahl, Collins, NMM (rookie)

Uncontracted:
Campbell (gone), Roughy (likely gone), Libba (Likely stay), Honeychurch (Likely gone). Also doubts on Lukas Webb going forward.

IN:
Pick 7, Dahl Compo (20), 42, 59, 60, 78, Gowers, Lynch, then 3 rookies

From here:
I still think Wingard is gettable.
Pick 7 and 20 for Wingard and 45 would get Port considering it.

Looks like we're set for Sam Lloyd:
Pick 60 for Lloyd.

Riley West and Buku Khamis:
Picks 42, 45 and 59 to pay for points. Values West around Pick 18 and Khamis in the 3rd round.

Best available at 60 and 78. Rookie list Cam Pederson or another experienced type as a stopgap back up ruck.

Keep Marcus Adams unless Brisbane stump up Pick 22, or we can get an experienced best 22 player in return.

Ends up:
IN: Wingard, Lloyd, West, Khamis, Pick 60, Pick 78, Gowers and Lynch upgrades.
OUT: Smith, Repath, Biggs, Dahl, Collins, Roughy, Honeychurch, Campbell

2019:
FB: Morris, Naughton, Wood
HB: Crozier, Cordy, JJ
C: Hunter, Libba, Suckling
HF: Mclean, Schache, Wingard
FF: Gowers, Boyd, Dickson
R: Trengove, Bont, Macrae
INT: Dunkley, Wallis, Richards, Williams

KPD back ups: Adams, Roberts, Young
Small Defender back ups: Lynch, Khamis, Roarke Smith
Mid rotation back ups: West, Daniel, Picken, Dale, Lipinski, Jong, Porter
Forward back ups: Lloyd, Greene, Pederson
Ruck back up: English

We're still light on for forwards and maybe a ruck, so we'd need to address that in the rookie draft too.

Noticed that Knightmare had Bailey Williams (the other one) dropping outside his top 20.

Sounds like he dominated in TAC and the championships.

Surely could be an option if we lose Adams and have another pick in the 20s.

We could play English next year and bring him through when Trengrove reaches his limits.

I'm hearing he has talent but could we cope with two of the same name in one club?

We should get Lloyd for a really late pick as we could just as easily pick him for nothing as a DFA.

Is Wingard really worth pick 7 and 20?
I’m just not convinced that the value is worth more than what slips at pick 7. Particularly if we are paying him 900K+ a year.
If we want to attract top line talent under contract from another club, yes you will pay overs.

The alternative is you will not get the top line talent unless there are extenuating circumstances.

This goes for both the players terms as well as the other club.

Personally don't mind either way as long as we sign our own elite talent on long term contracts

We'd have to call them by their nicknames. Was it our current Bailey W who (with some coaching from Bob) volunteered the nickname Keith?

Just dropping in to say as long as we can extend the Bont anything else is a bonus. He’s the only guy that matters
Absolutely he needs to be resigned, i would not be surprised if other clubs throw 1.5mil a year at him next year

Bit overs but we'd probably use it matching West anyway and he also had 45 coming back too so not much practical difference. So I'd consider it. Not convinced we actually get 20 to start with tho..but I hope so

It wouldn't be hard for Lloyd to make an impact; if he were to play in every game and get 1 a game he could well be our leading goalkicker.

Could also go the way of Goodes or Adcock though, in terms of on field impact. Ultimately though it's bringing in an experienced player to set some standards, even if that player plays VFL; something Bevo seems to rate in terms of list management (See: Goodes, Adcock, even Cloke). Will cost practically nothing, won't do our cap any harm...I know the argument is that we could use the list spot on a young player with higher upside, but considering we're just so lacking in experience I think it's a wise move. Not every move a team makes is going to have an immediate or particularly obvious payoff. It's not exciting but I don't think it's a detrimental move either.

Don't be silly, it's all life that comes in and out of our team. All other life on planet earth is trumps job.

Despite lack of media attention, we are still very much into him, very stinger esk at PA with wingard, with him being a bit of a pest behind the scenes.
I think so too, Hawthorn going all in for Shiel, Scrimshaw and Amon makes me think that they are out of the race leaving us or he stays at Port
