all this talk about Lipinski misses the point. yes he's hard done by, yes he will play good football elsewhere but the reason for this treatment is he is very soft, critical missed tackles and 'flinches' in all the games that he was dropped after. Bevo has him stamped as a good player but too soft (currently)but happy to retain as depth on minimal wage. I agree with his assessment and just hope we get a decent pick for him. Good luck to him, could make a good winger in the travis johnstone mould at collingwood.
He'll get the chance at Collingwood, who is starting at centre bounces? Adams, De Goey and?

The Lipinski thing s**** me. Yeah, he wants an opportunity, but if you grow up a Dogs fanatic and you see an ace midfield in front of you, wouldn't you want to back yourself to break into it and have a shot at winning a flag with your club? He's goes to the Pies and every chance they miss the eight the next few years.
A playing career is limited and can be cut shorter with injury. We know he was offered 3 years but not what coin was offered. I don’t blame him if he he’s getting more from the Pies but at same time surprised the Pies can afford much. Good luck to him.
Hopefully at least a late 2nd to help with pts but Pies need more Pts than us.

Watching Sweet become a good player somewhere else would be the absolute pits. I dunno if he will be or not don’t know a huge amount about him, but we dropped the ball in not giving him more of a chance
If you don't know much about him, how ca you say we should have played him more?
He was good early in the VFL season but his last VFL form was terrible. Tom Campbell flogged him. We shouldn't gift games to anyone, they should earn their spot.

Sweet needs more of a tank and can't rest forward, which shouldn't be a problem because English is more forward/2nd ruck anyway. Sweet is nowhere near ready for week in, week out ruck duties though.

Yes he's not ready but every team needs project rucks.

If he leaves all we really have is a 35 year old Martin. That's embarrassing

I'm not talking of cutting. him. I'm responding to a poster who though he should have gotten more games in 2021.

Summary on us from the Herald Sun today:
Sweet has had an approach from another team and is weighing it up. We are keen for him to stay on.

Young also considering rival interest - we’ve offered him 2 years.

Wallis likely to stay as there is minimal interest from opposition.

Unfortunately highlights Wally’s slide doesn’t it. Sad though.

Watching Lipinski live, particularly his work or lack of work off the ball is illuminating. I watched several live games last year and he appeared to be very much a front-running, low-intensity in defence, slower than treacle midfielder who indeed has a few party tricks that the tv camera captures. The club has offered his plenty of opportunities and has a 3 year contract in front of him. His loss is not the fault of our club.

“Multiple” clubs have asked about Sweet.
if this is true its very interesting.
Bevo basically refused to play him under any circumstances in the back half of the year and obviously other clubs see a weakness or at least alternative view point in Bevo's assessment of the ruck and ruckman. you'd have to say they have good reason. he went all in on English only to do a complete back turn, put years into Sweet then did a back turn, and we are left with a cooked Martin, and were left trawling the AFL B grade ruckman market.

Anyone else tapping foot and waiting impatiently for Dunks to extend his current contract? I’d hate to be sitting here in 12 months with him out of contract. The closer trade period gets, the more I think he could be the missing draft picks we need.
min saying that another on the fringe may go and the club uses Martin when possible next year in the hope Darcy can ruck.

Couldn’t be more confident in dunks signing a new contract soon.

if you didnt know any better youd say the way we used Dunkley post injury is the way you use someone you dont want to become reliant on and can replace easily

I've seen his name mentioned a couple of times here, but I'm surprised there isn't more talk about Darcy Cameron.

Out of contract this year, obviously playing second fiddle to Grundy. But he's looked very handy and capable when he's gone into the ruck. He's centre bounce work in particular has been quite good at times. I can recall some games where Grundy was benched in important moments and Cameron was preferred (last years elimination final v NicNat)

Is 26, 205cm. Kicked 22 goals from 18 games this year. Can take a clunk when forward.

If he wants a number 1 ruck spot let's give it to him. Will work really well with Timmy as both are very capable forward.

If we were a young side rebuilding I would be all for Max Lynch. But given our list profile Cameron makes much more sense.
Its also very convenient, the pies have a surplus of rucks and we have a surplus of mid's.
Hopefully a straight swap with lippa as wet have no draft captial

Martin no certainty to go on, Sweet and young both may explore elsewhere and all these 3 rucked at different times of the year.

English seems like he wants to be forward and a second ruck.

Interesting to say the least

I would get a specialist ruck coach ASAP

Does the criteria for the specialist ruck coach extend to pulling on the boots at short notice?!
I wonder what the old Demps is doing these days, played QAFL into his 40s, might want to reclaim his 'most votes in Brownlow history' title! :D

If you were Sweet, seriously why would you stay at the club? The club preferred to use a soft as butter Lewis Young ahead of him, and are currently in the market for other ruckman. We seem to have no plans for him to become our senior ruckman.

Harsh description of Young given he flew the flag for team mates in the elim final. He might lack confidence, but labelling him soft is just plain disrespectful.

Will be interesting to see how Mitch's career pans out from here. If we continue with a 3-tall KPF forward set up, a slow medium sized forward, even if he can kick goals, doesn't seem to fit the model. Hannan is also that mid-size, and for all the criticism of him this year, seems better defensively.

Agree, pretty p155 poor by Golden to sit behind a keyboard and say that. He banged in at ruck contests while you were sitting at home eating pies.

Its a real possibility that in 2 years none of Young, Sweet, Martin and English will be at the club, I certainly hope Power has a plan.
