I'll put one up - Jonathan Giles straight swap for Travis Colyer

Maybe I rate Colyer higher than I should but there are parts to his game that resemble Ballantyne (obviously a poor man's Ballantyne!) Just love his breakaway pace and feel he could compliment our list nicely. Maybe Essendon are too well served with rucks so may not be a goer but just throwing it up.

Win/win deal.

Would love Giles, but our pace through the midfield is lacking and Trav has finally cemented a place in our 22. If we could get Giles for a different player, I'd be all over it.

No, GWS win, Essendon go nowhere.

Have you agreed that a trade involving your club is reasonable for this whole thread.

Does it matter if I don't agree if it isn't? What's the point of robbing Peter to pay Paul?

Ballantyne has more pluck and tackles harder than Colyer.

Give Jed Lamb more development time and keep Giles.

If you want a player with breakaway pace and endurance, you'll be able to get Lucas for less than Colyer. Essendon would ask for a second round pick or O'Rourke/Jaksch/Plowman.

Wouldn't give Plowman even though he has been diabolical at times this year. He's just a very raw young defender who needs time to improve his game but he has some nice upside when it comes together. Reckon we might get a bit more for Jaksch if we put him up as he is a KPF/KPD and they are in high demand. Personally I wouldn't be upset if we moved O'Rourke for Colyer with maybe a pick upgrade somewhere. We have young Sumner who was highly rated but hasn't quite come on. He still may do but I think we need another quick small as a point of variance to our big forward line up.

We wouldn't ask for Plowman. That's a certainty, have you seen out defensive depth? And there's a good reason you'd get Lucas cheaper, he's shit.

I didn't want to be rude but I think Lucas may find himself in the WAFL next year, he just didn't transfer his junior promise at senior level. Rising 24 I think his time is up.

Apparently this conversation is about the Jenkins trade landing Jackson Merrett.

Well didn't I enter under the wrong impression.

In that case Crows definitely ahead atm, but Jackson is still young and has promise. He adds the kicker that after being impressed with him we took a much closer look at Zach which led to us drafting him.

And now we're back at Zach, anything that helped us get him is worth it. :rainbow:

After looking at the way Bulldogs midfield is developing, i cant see why they are anything but a good destination if you are a young player looking for success in 3-4 years.

Obviously the backline and forwardline need work, i think they need 1 more ready made quality key defender around the 1990-1992 age bracket, and 2 more key forwards in that same age bracket.

If they could snap one up cheap like crows did with Jenkins, that would be perfect for them. Recruiting someone like Ryan Scheonmakers and promising him he would be spending his career there only as a full forward/CHF would be a great move. Tom Bellchambers is another they could look at as a full forward only.

Schoenmakers is certainly the one that takes my interest this trade period as the club certainly won't be looking to trade our first rounder pick + a good player in exchange for one of GWS's big forward. I think he shows good value and I think if we could add him into our forward line along with our tall targets we have such as Stringer, Campbell and Crameri + Dahlhaus and Hunter as the small forwards then I'd think that would be a pretty handy forward line. However I don't see Schoenmakers as a defender and I think it has shown over the past couple of weeks we need a KPD moreso than a gun KPF, several of the comps big key forwards have given us an absolute belting of late. My hope is that we down trade our first rounder for a good player (doesn't have to be a star but certainly slots straight into our best 22) plus a late first rounder from one of the top 5 or 6 sides that they attain. Bellchambers would be quite handy also but I think Campbell could play that KPF/2nd ruck role pretty well.

Not sure what Hawks fans would want for schoenmakers from us but I would certainly entertain that traded down first rounder so around 14 - 17 for Schoenmakers + an exchange of later picks (say our 3rd for hawthorns 2nd).

I'm a massive Bellchambers fan, but I can't see Essendon wanting to deal with us nor wanting to trade him regardless.

In terms of our bookends, I'd almost say 'name your price' when it comes to Jake Carlisle, but he's another untouchable on their end, and he seems very happy there. Footscray supporter growing up, runs on the board at both ends, has a mean streak...

Anyway, snapping out of my daydream, I like the prospect of Talia as a permanent CHB and Roberts as a swingman playing primarily in defense (although was it eth-dog saying he used to play predominantly forward?), so I wouldn't mind a defender in the mould of Marchbank or Lever - you know, Brian Lake-like intercept defenders that back their disposal, but minus the constant brain snaps and general off field idiocy. Are there any defenders in that sort of category on the fringes of an AFL list that come to mind?

Tom Clurey from Port seems like a decent option to trade in.

Not sure half measures like Schoey or TBC are what we need. It has to be a genuine dangerous kpf otherwise we might as well persist with guys like Redpath & Campbell.

How does Essenon win? Go on tell me....we already have Bellchambers an Ryder. We are giving up one f the few with genuine leg speed for a reserve ruck! Why the heck would we do that! We can get a VFL reserve ruck that can do that job. Colyer won't be on the table.

Fletch played forward most of his junior career.

I don't see that one as Merrett v Jenkins tbh.

If it was Adelaide would be the big winners, but we could have easily had both. Jenkins just didn't show that much when he was with us, and Adelaide offered him a senior spot when we couldn't.

Both of them would be very handy

While Schoenmakers would be a good one, I refuse to welcome him at the Dogs until he cuts that ridiculous hair. What the **** even is that?

Because Bellchambers is always injured!

Ryder plays 1 good game out of 3!

You mean Bellchambers has been injured this year...before that he has been durable...and Ryder is better. Again we are not giving away a bloke with genuine leg speed for Giles. We have absolutely no use for him. Richmond can take him if you want him so badly, Essendon don't need him, full stop!
